"Very good job at first, but then work started coming apart. We called and they came and picked up chairs and repaired them and returned them to us. A week later they started coming apart again. Since then they have not responded to our request for them to pickup and repair chairs again and it looks like they just can't do the work satisfactorily. Misty and her son were very polite, friendly but it just appears that the work, done by her husband, is just not up to the quality we needed and expected. We must now look for someone who can complete the work."

"Called Mr. Blanco on Friday, we arranged for him to come to our home the next Monday, and evaluate the sofa. He brought a large sample of upholstery material. I picked three, my wife picked one. (We went with her choice) He arranged to pick up the sofa that evening. On Wednesday he called and did we want him to deliver the sofa that evening. My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the job. The last time we had anything reupholstered it took well over a week, sometimes two."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in El Paso, TX

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
