"Great! The work was done last November and I chose to wait a couple months to see if the fix would last over time. It did! They also had another drainage issue that I was unaware of. Fixed that too at no extra charge. I had 3 estimates. I picked Falcone because their solution made the most sense to me...and they had the lowest cost estimate. Great people to work with. They installed a french drain,a sump pump, and reran gutter downspouts."

"Lane came out and listened to all our needs. He walked us through a very clear plan for our basement. They gave us a reasonable quote and were able to schedule us a few weeks later. It took them 2 days to do the work and it was done very professionally. The crew was extremely nice. They brought extra plastic to make sure all our belongings were covered. They even helped me move my washer and dryer! They made sure everything was clean and to our standards before they left. The whole experience has been great and I highly recommend them for whoever is having water issues in their basement or crawl space."

"I have used Pro Plumbing for years, and their quality has remained top-notch (some companies start out with stellar quality and service, but degrade over time). Today, I needed several things done (unclogging a slow drain, painting the fitting on a propane line, and fixing a leaky outside faucet), and Josh came out to perform all of the work (I sprung the final job on him last minute, and he was very professional and courteous - telling me that he had the necessary parts on his truck to do the work right then). Pro Plumbing practices up-front pricing, so after inspecting the areas where the work needed to be done, Josh was able to provide me with an itemized cost list, such that I could see exactly what I would be paying for each task (which allowed me the flexibility to choose whether or not I wanted to complete everything that day). Josh was very knowledgeable, and explained what he was doing as he went along - making sure that everything was working as expected once he had completed each job. He also inspected everything after he had tuned the water back on - to ensure proper water flow to all faucets. As a bonus, he even showed me where to find the backflow valve for my irrigation system. I was very pleased and satisfied with Josh’s work and professionalism, and will definitely continue to use Pro Plumbing (and now they have electric and HAVC, as well!) for all my plumbing needs."

"They were very professional and considerate of taking care of their work while at my home.  They completed the installation and made sure the system was working before leaving my home. My electric bill deceased and I have enjoyed a savings of about $350.00 per month since the system was installed. They explained the different types of system and advised me on the best one for the size of my home. A maintenance appointment was set up at the time of the installation and today I received a reminder call to set an appointment for them to come out. I am well pleased with Alpine and recommend them to everyone needing a HVAC System.

"Emailed Brandon on Friday and his crew showed up today with no fuss.  They quickly introduced themselves (new guys I had not met before) and went right to work.  Took them no time at all to do what was needed, cleaned up the downed debris, and left everything the way it was before they arrived.
As always Brandon and his crew are very prompt and courteous.  This is the 3rd time I have utilized their service in the past two years.  I have a 3 story house and Brandon did not charge me extra for this, which is a huge plus!  Many other gutter services wanted to charge and extra $75 for the 3rd story.
Come fall when the leaves clog my gutters again, I will be calling Brandon and his crew to clean them out.

"It is really difficult for me to leave a bad review, but I feel that I have to be honest.  Right off the bat, the advertisement makes it sound like you are hiring a business with multiple employees (1 person for 6 hours, 2 for 3 hours, etc.).  However, there is only one guy, a nice older gentleman, and you will have to wait until he is available, and the work that can be done will be limited by his ability and willingness to do it.
I had contacted him ahead of time to give him an overview of the jobs I needed done.  I inquired at that time as to whether he cleaned dryer vents.  He responded that he had a special tool for that job and would take care of it.  When he arrived, that was the first job I asked him to do, and he handed me a friend?s business card (ABS Professional Window Cleaning).  I did
call them, but it would be an additional $150 to clean the dryer vent.
On the third day, he returned to break down a swing set and geodome in my back yard so that they could be placed at the curb for pickup.  John walked out in the yard and looked them over, then returned to tell me that he had called a friend and
offered them to him ?free of charge? since they were in pretty good shape.  I proceeded to give him odd jobs to do while
we waited for his friend to come by.  I checked back with him hourly.  After several hours, John admitted that his friend would not come by that day.  I again asked him to put the swing set and geodome at the curb, suggesting that his friend was welcome to come by and pick them up from there.  John didn?t want to do that because they couldn?t be put at the curb without being broken down at least somewhat.  At that point, I asked him to wrap up, and I had a check cut for him.  He added an extra hour for the day (charging me 7 hours to work from 8:30 to 2:30) and left.  A week later, he finally let me know that no one was coming to take away the swing set and geodome.  He indicated that he would come back and break them down, but I have now given up on that ever happening.
Of the small jobs he did that day while we were waiting for his friend, most of them will have to be redone.  For instance, he installed a towel bar, but he moved it over several inches so that the bathroom door now hits it, plus he installed it at a slant.  I had asked him to remove some hooks and Christmas lights from the front of the house, and he told me he had done it, but after he left I discovered that he only removed half of them.  There were also several things that he was unable to do because he never brought a ladder.
To be fair, he did accomplish several things on my list.  He installed a microwave, which I would have sworn was a two-person job, but he did it by himself and quite well.  He replaced a couple of towel rings and installed some curtain rods and tie-backs.
He replaced some ceiling fan blades, repaired a door that was sticking, replaced a deadbolt, put up a couple of bulletin boards and fixed a wiggly curtain tie-back.  He also painted a room for me, and he did a nice job, though he was a bit slow.  Also, I had to pick up the paint, paint rollers, and spackle for him, so in future I think it is less expensive to use my regular painters.

My biggest issue is that he didn?t remove the geodome and
swing set.  I paid him $245 for that day,
and he shouldn?t have come if he wasn?t going to do the job.  Also, if he had been honest about the dryer
vent, I could have made other arrangements for that much earlier.

After my review, John got in touch with me to let me know that he would not remove the swingset and geodome, but he did refund that day's charges.  I feel that this was a fair resolution, so I've upgraded my review."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Elkin, NC

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
