"Arrived on time, repaired broken part and fixed some internal chair issues that might have been present since chair was manufactured. Appears some screws were missing from some key support wood blocks. Made sure chair was solid, worked properly and then closed up the leather back and fabric bottom. The chair was never this good before! Good, professional job."

"(writing this review a 2nd time because I recently joined the Asheville area and now it should be properly linked with the store)... <br /> Every experience I've had working with Piano Emporium has been good, from getting advice on restoring an old piano, to purchasing a piano, to tuning. Shane is extremely knowledgeable. He was very patient and really worked with us to find a great piano for our price range. We bought a used piano, and he was able to tell us about the mechanisms, sound, and advantages and disadvantages of every one he had in the shop. He followed up several times to make sure we were happy with everything, and we are. <br />"

"I am very pleased with the work Brandon did installing my front door. He and Brian did an excellent job with the installation and clean up. There were some unexpected issues with the size of the new door compared to the height of the rough opening which he was able to resolve. Both are professional and I will definitely use them again on future projects. <br /> <br />"

"I was impressed with them. They are a family business, their name is Murphy. He quoted me a price but he had misjudged something and stuck with the price anyway, even though he had to do something extra. That was honest. I think his price was fair. The way I judged the fairness of his price is that another company charged $200+ for installation, another dealer wanted $700 for installation and he charged me $300+ but he had to take the doors off and redo things, I figured that was fair. They are honest. "

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Fairview, NC

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
