"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Mr. FIX IT has a great customer service team that are very helpful and friendly. They keep you informed every step along the way! The installation team of Kevin and Eddie were very professional and possessed ultimate knowledge of their task. They installed a new "Jacuzzi Bath" converting my 40 year old bathtub/shower combination into a beautiful and modern walk in shower! It looks fantastic! I will say that the conversion was not cheap, but quality materials and workmanship never is! I highly recommend "MR. FIX IT" and would not hesitate to use their services in the future! "I purchased a foreclosed home in 2016. It needed to be gutted and start all over. The bathroom had an old tub and grimy tiles. Bath Planet came in and installed the entire walk-in shower with glass doors and a beautiful backsplash. The work was done in a day and the workers were friendly and knowledgeable and cleaned up behind themselves when they left. This shower has been used almost daily for 8 years and shows no signs of wear and tear. I highly recommend getting the safety bars because you may not think you want them now but you find as you get older you'll be glad you have them. My only regret is that I did not have this done in my last house. Bath Planet stands behind their work and doesn't excellent job. Give them a try you won't be disappointed."

"My wife and I purchased a charming brick ranch home from the 1970s with dreams of transforming it into our ideal living space. Our first project was opening up the kitchen/family room to the living room by removing a load-bearing wall—definitely not a DIY job. We posted our project on Angie’s List and were soon contacted by Isai Huezo, owner of Huezo’s Construction LLC. Isai visited us the next day, and his estimate was so reasonable that we eagerly hired them on the spot. On Monday, a professional crew of four, led by a foreman, arrived promptly at 7:00 AM and got straight to work. They were not only highly skilled but also incredibly polite, keeping the work area immaculate during the demolition. By the second day, the team had seamlessly removed the remaining 2x4s, installed a robust lintel beam, and perfectly matched the drywall and trim to the rest of the house. We also had an outdated picket wall around the basement stairs. Isai recommended modernizing it with a sleek 3-foot wall, and it was completed within the three-day timeframe. Thrilled with their exceptional work, we discussed adding a dream screen porch and deck. The estimate was too good to pass up, so we went ahead. The results were nothing short of spectacular. The screen porch was beautifully integrated with the roof joists, and the deck, built on sturdy 6x6 posts and attached to the house, was a masterpiece. The porch featured custom wiring for lights, a ceiling fan, and outdoor floodlights, with a stunning tongue-and-groove pine ceiling stained in a glossy walnut finish. The craftsmanship was top-tier, and the crew's professionalism and courtesy made the entire experience a delight. Encouraged by their success, we tackled our outdated 1970s kitchen next. Isai returned to vent and wire the microwave, install LED lighting, and add a sconce light. He even refinished the ceiling and windows. After removing the cabinets, Isai didn’t miss a beat, finishing the ceiling, painting the trim and windows, and installing a beautiful tile backsplash. When we realized our old appliances didn’t match the newly renovated space, Isai went above and beyond, helping us select and purchase new appliances and offering to install them. Huezo Construction exceeded our expectations in every way with their exceptional craftsmanship, incredible value, and the wonderful camaraderie we developed with Isai and his crew. We eagerly anticipate remodeling the bathrooms and building a concrete back porch with them. I wholeheartedly recommend Huezo’s Construction for any project."

"This company is awesome. A person contacted me to inquire about the job and he was very professional. He gave me a quote and was able to get someone to come out to install the lighting fixture the next day. However, someone was close in the area where he was able to be at my house to install it within 20 minutes of me initially calling. The person that installed the light was very professional and quick. I will definitely be using this company again for my electrical needs."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Farmville, VA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
