"No one showed up during the 2 hour window I was given. I called and was told they would check with the person the work was assigned to. The company called back to say the worker hadn't gotten the message about being assigned my job. I was told he was on his way but that it would take 40 minutes. When he arrived he said he had to charge more for my type of windows (divided panes). I paid $200 for exterior only, when 6 months prior I had paid $400 for both inside and out (equivalent price). the prior window washers had brought ladders and thoroughly washed and dried each window. This company sent one guy with a pole, no ladder. After an hour he said he was done and wanted to be paid. I pointed out that the windows weren't dry. He kept repeating that it was "complete". Bottom line, the worker wasn't even close to being on time, the work was mediocre, and the price was nothing special.

"My wife and had put off a remodel of our 33-year-old bathroom until cracks in the fiberglas shower pan compelled us to act. I cut out sheetrock from the shower wall flanges and then cut out the walls. I cut a circle around the drain and popped off the base only to find the drain pipe cracked at the 45 degree fitting going into a straight 2" abs pipe about 2/3rds encased in concrete. When I tried to put a rubber cap on the pipe, a cracked opened up 3.5" down the pipe. Now I was worried. After talking to a couple of friends, I turned to Angie's List. I called Ken Fleck and, happily for me, he was in town finishing a project and would be happy to stop by and see my problem. He was impressed by the poor workmanship of the contractor we had 33 years ago and offered to fix the pipe and place the new shower pan right then. He sent me to the plumbing shop for parts while he started drilling into the concrete. By the time I got back, he said the pipe had a spiral crack all the way to the Y-coupler leading down into the concrete slab (Actually, I could see the damage.). He put in a proper drain and trap and installed the new shower pan all in a little over two hours. If I had done it on my own it would have taken a week and I would have been a nervous wreck and my wife more than a little unhappy. Thanks, Ken."

"although the fix was not covered by insurance, I did learn how to clean out the drain line myself and how to avoid future issues such as this. the person who was sent out was very professional and knew exactly what the problem was."

"It all ended well - AHS decided to replace the furnace (19 years old) instead of the pricey part. It was a long process, though, during the hottest part of the summer. Communication between AHS and the vendor was not good. The vendor and I were both calling daily for status, having to wait on hold for 20-40 minutes before getting a person. However, the people we spoke to at AHS were very friendly and helpful. Call backs were non-existent, though, which would have been more of an issue if results were not seen. I am just grateful the 3 weeks without the furnace was during the uncomfortable summer as opposed to the bitter cold winter. Bottom line is - it got done, but it was long and drawn out. At this point we've gotten more out of the program than we put in, but I am thinking the inconvenience isn't worth the difference. The cost of service below is only for the service call - our annual AHS is about $1800."
