"Since I moved into my apartment around 20 years ago, I've had problems with the bathroom exhaust fan. When I turned it on, often the circuit breaker would be thrown. Finally it got to the point where it just wouldn't work at all - if I tried to use it, the fuse was blown. I posted the project here and Leonel of Berardi contacted me shortly afterwards. After looking at it he determined that the fan was the wrong kind and wasn't even installed properly. He explained it to me, ordered the correct fan, and had someone come over to install it. Now the fan works perfectly, no more blown fuse, and it's less noisy, too. They could have played this differently, slapped on a bandaid on it and had me call again and again for the same problem, but Berardi did the right thing. I'd recommend them to anybody who needs electrical work done."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"Our 2 central A/C units never properly worked after moving in to our new house 3 years ago. They leaked for 2 years causing water damage in our unit in multiple rooms on multiple floors. Our tenant's mini-split A/C units never cooled his unit properly. I had the original installers come to the house multiple times and they never properly diagnosed the problems. One time they took the blower motor back to the shop to repair, coming back with it the next day only to install it backwards. The original installer then stopped returning my calls. My guess is they realized what was wrong (everything their fault during install) and what it would take to fix. Out of frustration I started searching on Angie's List and Yelp last summer and found Arick and Amtech. Arick was very fast to respond via telephone and equally quickly responsive to come out to the house to make an assessment and give us an estimate. The team had to do extensive work on the compressors outside, but last summer was the first summer since shortly after moving in that I was not nervous to run the A/C. Our units worked great thanks to Amtech. Arick's guys did work and an annual summer service on our tenant's mini-split A/C units, and all seemed to be running smoothly until it started to get very hot outside (tenant's unit is on the first floor and his apartment is naturally cool, so he does not need to run his units often). I was out of town and my tenant called to say that his apartment was not cooling down--in the height of summer--so I called Arick and he had his team out the next day. On the first trip out they found that there was a coolant leak and would need to come back with more time and equipment to diagnose where it was leaking. Luckily, on the next visit they found the leak in the lines outside at the compressor, and not somewhere in the walls of our tenant's unit. Amtech fixed it and--not to jinx anything--everything ran great for the rest of last summer. I would definitely recommend Amtech, and will be using them again soon for my annual system check up / service for our house."

"A few weeks went by and we were not notified of our installation date. I called and was then given a date. They came on time. There was a mis-communication between the initial contact guy and the installers. We expected that a space around 4 window frames would be caulked. The installers did not know about this. I needed to expend some effort to get that addressed, but it was addressed. They scheduled a second appointment to do the caulking. They came as expected and completed the work. In conclusion, they did honor the contract, but it seems that the working crew did not read the contract and come fully prepared. If the foreman was unclear as to what was on the contract, we would have all benefited from him contacting the initial sales guy to be clear as to the details of the job before the work was started. When I clarified this deficiency, they did complete the job as promised in a timely manner."

"I called ECM yesterday and spoke with Carly. I told her I had an outside Quietside AC unit just for my sunroom that was not blowing cold air and showing an E4 error message. She said she will have someone there at my house tomorrow morning. Well, as promised, Bill and his son Sean showed up before noon and found a defective schraeder valve which was what was causing the leak of refrigerant and giving the error message. They replaced the valve and added refrigerant. Now the unit blows ice cold air! They were polite, responsive and knowledgeable. I will be using them for all my ac issues as I have central air also. "Except for fact that outside dryer vent cover was damaged (it was 32 years old and starting to crumble), actually cleaning of duct was fine. One caveat, if you need to replace your outside dryer vent cover, DO NOT pay the $60. for company to supply and install new cover. You can get it from Walmart or AMAZON for a fraction of the price ($5.19)!"

"Braido is a nice family run company.  I had the original 25 year old furnace and AC. I has the last house on the block to replace them.  Needed to get it done before winter.  They showed up the day I called for an estimate, took measurements, checked old system and discussed in detail my options for a replacement system.   No pressure to sell me the best as we will down size in a few years. A few days later quotes for two systems arrived. I was able to scheduled an installation that fit my schedule.  It was your typical one day job.  Everything went smoothly with the installation, and the old hardware was taken away.  I like this company and recommend them, I give them and A.
