"We were having a problem with ground water getting in under the slab that our house sits on. They installed drainage pipes and dug a gravel pit for the water to go into. They also installed a sump pump at the low spot in our garage."

"Our downstairs bedroom and bathroom were freezing cold. A BSI insulation engineer came in to size up the problem and provide a solution. They insulated the basement and crawl space of our 1893 Plantation home and now our said rooms are warm and inviting. We are so grateful to them and will save a ton of money in heating costs in the years to come. So happy and so grateful. What a great company."

"Evan was on time checked out all plumbing and had suggestions for several items for me to consider. No hard sale picked items that I knew needed to be fixed now and that I could afford."

"The original plan called for putting in interior braces to shore up the wall as there is a room over the exterior basement wall that needed repair, so anchor plates were likely to be problematic. Unfortunately, there was no choice but to use anchors due to the water drainage installed around the base of the basement. Bruce, CJ, and Kyle did not want to damage the drainage system by putting in interior braces, so they talked it over with their engineers to solve the problem. It was no easy task as they had dig very deep to get under the footers of the exterior room."

"My wife and I recently had some major work done to shore up our foundation and repair our basement walls. The Crossroads crew performed **exceptional** work! Huge thanks to Miguel and Eric. These guys are friendly, professional, and really know their stuff. We were extremely impressed with how hard Eric and Miguel worked, and the quality of the work was amazing. Thanks, guys!! We live in an old house (built in the 1930s I think) and the basement walls were showing their age. We also had some water issues during heavy rains. Crossroads trenched the basement, secured the walls with wall anchors, added a sump pump, and also added helical piers around the outside of the house to support areas of the foundation that were sinking. Miguel and Eric performed some truly Herculean efforts in doing all this work - and they did a damn fine job. We were extremely impressed with their work ethic, and the top-notch quality of their work. In addition, this work was done at a fraction of the cost (literally a fraction) that had been quoted to us by other companies. I highly recommend Crossroads Foundation Repair!"

"Scott called me back within just a few hours and came out to diagnose the issue that same day. He came back out just a few days later to fix our leak for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend reaching out to Scott if you have any type of leak in your basement."

"I liked the entire operation, the way they do business at Advanced Restoration and Waterproofing. Moles are causing drainage and erosion issues and if eliminating them does not work I plan to hire Advanced. I did research on several other drainage companies that gave me estimates and they specialize in drainage They are bonded, and insured against damage to underground utility lines as well as workmen’s injury, etc. They also guarantee their work which many small scale operators don’t. Long story short, if you go, as I often have in the past, with a lower quote…… the final invoice is above the initial estimate (low balled), plus the re-do to get it right, and the risk of damage to an underground cable (cost) will more than offset (exceed) the initial quote from Advanced. The best only costs a ‘dime’ more. Very professional all around."

"We woke up to find about 5 inches of water in our basement after a very bad rain storm at the end of February. After calling several plumbers that day, Greg Bauer was the first to respond. He and his apprentice came out promptly to assess the problem. They were willing to walk and work through the freezing cold water to replace our sump pump. They put in a brand new pump in about an hour. Greg wanted to come back once the water went down to check his work and stabilize the pump. Upon returning, they found the new pump was not working correctly and replaced it with another brand new pump. They even cleaned out the debris and dirt from the hole to make sure nothing would get caught in the pump. Greg was able to educate us on how to run the pump and how to keep it running longer. He did great work and was very timely. I appreciate he checked his work and replaced the original pump with another new one without issues. I would recommend him to others."

"They were hooking up plumbing, after I had new counter tops put in. They disconnected and reconnected the plumbing. The only incident that we had was when they disconnected the water, he did not cap the water off, which leaked into the basement. I had to replace a few tiles. They did come out immediately, and capped the lines, the same day we were installing our counter tops."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Flat-rock, IN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
