"Richard worked on our hot tub. He was incredibly knowledgeable and recognized the problem on our first call to him. He came the next day and verified the problem. He fixed it and really knew what he was doing. We have added him to our list as the person to call when in need of repair."

"I was searching Home Warranty providers after a bad experience with my 7 year, soon to be terminated "former" Fidelity Home Warranty service provider. Warranty service providers are essential, for they step in and "act" when life deals you an "Oh Crap" situation like your refrigerator suddenly quits. Every high dollar appliance in a home has a life span that will end whether your prepared for it or not. It's a common occurance that leads to unexpected higher debt concerns while you frantically attempt to save your food from going bad. Got a minimum of $1,700 to get a new one? A truck or a really good friend to borrow theirs to pick it up? Plus time to allow it to achieve proper temperature to transfer your temp sensitive food! Well if you haven't experienced this type of event, in your life, you will! I began by doing some easy research online like searching for best Home Warranty providers. I put some inquiries out to prospective providers and as expected, the sales calls began to ring on my phone. They all have why "they" are the best provider - so take notes and compare policies. Ask whether they cover swimming pools, septic systems, roof repairs etc. So my phone rings with an out-of-state area code and it's Zach from Choice Home Warranty. While on the call, this enthusiastic salesman hit all the "trigger" items I was looking for; *Annual Service Price *Price per claim deductable *Response time You know, all the "need to know" info that helps you make an informative decision. I started paying $550/year 7 years ago in 2014 with my old service provider. The per claim fee was $65. Today in 2022, it's $710/year and $85/claim. Was it worth it you ask? If I figure the math, my total cost over 7 years and only 4 claims was $4,450 or $636/year. This cost paid to replace my pools salt cell and chlorine generator ($1,800 in parts alone), 2 separate Air Conditioner repairs which replaced the coil fan motor, a circuit board replacement, system coil cleansing, relays and a capacitor. (No idea of how much my total cost would have been. I paid $65 twice. Nice huh?) 1 roof repair that replaced the "Cricket", which is a 15' roof section elevational change just below the ridge line. It's important to remember that these repairs don't include "hidden costs" which are personnel and service labor rates. Something you will pay for without a Warranty Service. Here's the best part of the call from this AWESOME salesman. He offered me 6 year "fully transferable", rate locked for life" service policy that when divided out by 6 is LESS THAN WHAT I WAS PAYING ANNUALLY, 7 YEARS AGO!!! So, is a Home Warranty plan a safe bet??? I have a 9 word answer for those without a Choice Home Warranty service plan. YOU BET YOUR DRIPPING SWEATY BUTT CRACK IT IS!!! Props to Zach, YOU DA MAN!!! "We have 20-year-old above-ground pool with steel walls, completely encircled by a deck. My wife noticed rust stains on one wall section. When I tried to do my own repairs on the wall, rust flaked off and the pool started leaking. It turns out that it was water trapped between the liner and pool wall that had been accumulating sitting there for years. We were concerned with the expense associated with any remedy (pool repair, removal, or replacement) due to the custom-built deck that completely surrounded it, making access very difficult. Those concerns paled in comparison, however, to our fear over the structural integrity of the pool and what would happen to our neighbor’s property if the weakened pool walls were to burst, sending a 16,000 gallon tidal wave their way. I called a couple of local pool dealers asking for recommendations for someone who could replace the 15 year-old liner and repair the pool wall at the same time. I was told in each case “You won’t find anyone who will touch that job. As soon as they see the rust, they’re done”. I was about to give up and refocus my search for a demolition contractor when I decided to try Angi’s List, pretty much as a last resort. Within 8 hours after filling out the form on my phone, I received an email and a text message from Tim Fowler at Aquatic Pools. From the outset, he was very professional, and contrary to what others had told me, he showed great confidence that this work was well within his experience and expertise. He came out to look at the situation and we discussed all remedies available to repair the damage and renovate the pool. He had several ideas and recommendations that would extend the life of the pool by several years, and more importantly let us sleep at night knowing it was once again structurally sound. Tim and his team showed up when they promised and were exceedingly efficient with their work. They explained the entire process every step of the way and did the work as if they were working on their own pool. In the end, they removed the old liner, sanded down the walls from the inside, and patched and reinforced the areas most affected by rust. They coated the entire inner wall with Rust-oleum, and installed a foam barrier all-around to provide additional protection for the new liner. They also installed additional floor padding, a foam cove to prevent wash-out, a heavy-duty 25-guage liner, a new skimmer, a new light, new gaskets and hardware. The pool literally looks brand new. This was a big job. The work wasn’t what I would call “cheap”, but certainly well worth the money paid. My Dad used to tell me that “You get what you pay for”, and he was right. In this case, I believe we got that and then some. I could not more strongly recommend Tim Fowler and Aquatic Pools for his honesty, work ethic, and integrity. He is a credit to Angi’s List and should serve as an example for other contractors to emulate."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Brent and his crew were very punctual and always stayed in contact if there was any change to his plans. They worked in very unfavorable weather as they had to cut the framing and tile out side in frigid and snowy weather. Brent was always available if I had questions and he always consulted me before doing anything outside of what we first agreed upon. During the remodel process we had difficulty with the supplier of the vanity and had to return 2 before one was shipped that was acceptable. Brent was very patient with us as this held him up from finishing the job as he had planned. During the remodel I had planned to paint and do the vanity install myself but Brent quoted me a price for turn key that was very reasonable. The bathroom looks great and I did not have to lift a finger. I would recommend Brent and have already told him I will be contacting him in the near future for more of his services.

FAQs for swimming pool heaters repair or service projects in New Albany, IN

Replacing a pool heater costs $3,000 on average. Final pricing depends on the type of heater (gas, electric, or solar) and your pool's size. Factor for swimming pool repair costs, at an average of $3,800. When you start experiencing issues with your pool heater, other equipment and structural failures often follow. Installation is often the least expensive for electric and gas heaters. Heat pumps and solar panels often cost several thousand dollars more to install.

A pool heater’s lifespan is determined by its type and proper upkeep. Solar heaters last 20 to 25 years, electric heat pumps perform for five to 10 years, and gas heaters remain effective for 5 years. Regular pool maintenance safeguards performance and prevents premature failure. Ensuring that you adhere to a strict annual service schedule protects your investment and maintains consistent heating efficiency.

Depending on the size of your pool, location, climate, and current energy prices, you’ll spend up to $20 per hour to heat a pool using propane, $9 per hour using natural gas, and $1 to $2 per hour for a heat pump. Northern climates require more energy and can double the price. Standard estimates allow homeowners to easily estimate the cost of heating a pool for a month. Propane heaters, for example, are known to burn around 1 gallon per hour per 100,000 BTUs.

An electric or gas heat pump will take eight to 14 hours to heat a pool, while a solar heat pump takes 24 to 72 hours. Multiply the number of gallons by 8.34 to get your total pounds of water. Divide this figure by your heater's BTU rating to determine how many hours it takes to raise the water temperature by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

If your pool heater is not raising the water temperature to the desired level, the issue is caused by cold ambient conditions rather than a malfunction. The best solution is to install a solar cover that locks in heat and boosts efficiency. A solar cover costing $120 to $250 enhances heat retention, ensuring your heater performs at its peak. Additionally, verify that all settings—such as thermostat calibration and water circulation—are properly adjusted to support optimal heating.

Regular annual maintenance is crucial to keep your pool heater running efficiently and to avoid high repair costs. Investing $100 to $200 in yearly maintenance prevents issues such as excessive noise, surging energy bills, and malfunctioning controls. This proactive care not only prolongs your heater’s lifespan but also ensures reliable performance throughout the season. Always refer to your warranty guidelines to follow the required maintenance procedures.
