"Recently employed Sweetwater to install a vinyl liner and perform some additional service issues. Steve is great to work with and the installation was performed very timely and with little disruption. His crew is top notch and very willing to answer questions and showed considerable knowledge of all aspects of running a pool. Pricing was reasonable and there were no unpleasant surprises. Pool liner is beautiful and we are enjoying every moment we can. I would highly recommend this company and plan on using them in the future for all our pool needs."

"Joe was referred to me by a friend. When I called him, he answered his phone and we scheduled an appointment promptly. He showed up as scheduled, assessed the work to be performed and provided me with an estimate. He walked through every aspect of the estimate with me and spoke in detail of the work that was to be performed. He was very knowledgeable and articulated himself well. I was very impressed; I didn't arrange to have any more estimates provided. We scheduled the work. Joe's an early riser. He showed up bright and early on the day we had agreed that the work would be performed. He performed his work in a no-nonsense manner. His work was clean and it was thorough. I have an old ornery house. I know that it was giving him fits at times, yet he never lost his patience or cool, and he never cut corners. My house is also rather small. On the day Joe did the work I was at home with my two children who were hovering around him every time he made an appearance. He was always kind and respectful to them--they liked him. Joe is a good electrician and a good person. I highly recommend him!"

"It was time for an update to our kitchen and a few other items around the house. Jesse and his team were clean, professional, and timely getting the job done. They rewired and added outlets in our kitchen, added a few ceiling fans, and replaced our thermostats, among other things in our remodel journey. I highly recommend Jesse and his team to tackle any new or existing electrical job or issue you might have."

"James, the office manager did the work. He was very polite and was very knowledgeable. He told us we could solve our problem of overloading a plug in the bedroom by getting a power strip. He advised strongly against ever using cube taps, explaining that they
are  very dangerous fire hazards (. After James left we. removed all the ones we had in use in the house.)  James worked very quickly on the change-over of the outlets. and the switches.  The diagnosis of the problem in the ceiling light was  left up in the air because we were unablle to get the correct part for him to make the repair, but we expect to schedule him to come back to make the repair at a later time.  We were very pleased with the amount of work that J ames completed for the Big Deal  and we feel that  he is a very good electrician.

"I reached out to Louis with a time sensitive request to take a look at a pool which was located on a property I was considering purchasing. Despite being fully booked Louis made the time to stop by the property and provide me with an honest assessment of the pool as well as items I should watch out for. It was clear from working with him that Louis has developed a deep expertise in this area due to his years of experience and will certainly look to work with him further in the future."

"They have always fixed the problems that we've had. Frustrations? Delays? At times. We live in a flawed world. But overall, service has been professional and well done. It has always been worth the monthly fee and deductibles. If you consider that most appliances today only last five years or so, breakdowns are going to be a given. Our most recent repair will require at least two service calls and an $1800 part. That more than pays for our entire year's fees."

"Our front steps and walkway, as well as several minor repairs around our house and back patio, needed to be rebuilt. He visited the next day to analyze our needs and provide us with a project estimate. The next week, the work was started and completed in two days. EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED!! This covers a number of changes made as the project progressed. My wife and I are ecstatic about the results, which clearly indicate a big improvement. Stonecare There is no doubt that we made the right option in selecting Stonecare Paving and Masonry based on the amount of praises we have already gotten."

FAQs for swimming pool heaters repair or service projects in Boston, MA

Replacing a pool heater costs $3,000 on average. Final pricing depends on the type of heater (gas, electric, or solar) and your pool's size. Factor for swimming pool repair costs, at an average of $3,800. When you start experiencing issues with your pool heater, other equipment and structural failures often follow. Installation is often the least expensive for electric and gas heaters. Heat pumps and solar panels often cost several thousand dollars more to install.

A pool heater’s lifespan is determined by its type and proper upkeep. Solar heaters last 20 to 25 years, electric heat pumps perform for five to 10 years, and gas heaters remain effective for 5 years. Regular pool maintenance safeguards performance and prevents premature failure. Ensuring that you adhere to a strict annual service schedule protects your investment and maintains consistent heating efficiency.

Depending on the size of your pool, location, climate, and current energy prices, you’ll spend up to $20 per hour to heat a pool using propane, $9 per hour using natural gas, and $1 to $2 per hour for a heat pump. Northern climates require more energy and can double the price. Standard estimates allow homeowners to easily estimate the cost of heating a pool for a month. Propane heaters, for example, are known to burn around 1 gallon per hour per 100,000 BTUs.

An electric or gas heat pump will take eight to 14 hours to heat a pool, while a solar heat pump takes 24 to 72 hours. Multiply the number of gallons by 8.34 to get your total pounds of water. Divide this figure by your heater's BTU rating to determine how many hours it takes to raise the water temperature by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

If your pool heater is not raising the water temperature to the desired level, the issue is caused by cold ambient conditions rather than a malfunction. The best solution is to install a solar cover that locks in heat and boosts efficiency. A solar cover costing $120 to $250 enhances heat retention, ensuring your heater performs at its peak. Additionally, verify that all settings—such as thermostat calibration and water circulation—are properly adjusted to support optimal heating.

Regular annual maintenance is crucial to keep your pool heater running efficiently and to avoid high repair costs. Investing $100 to $200 in yearly maintenance prevents issues such as excessive noise, surging energy bills, and malfunctioning controls. This proactive care not only prolongs your heater’s lifespan but also ensures reliable performance throughout the season. Always refer to your warranty guidelines to follow the required maintenance procedures.
