"I had a broken corner brick in my siding. I could not find any brick repairman to come to repair it, until I contacted the Trilite Stone, Inc.. Len, at Trilite Stone, was super understanding and helpful to have my little brick repair project accomplished. He even personally performed a custom-made corner piece of the brick for the project. His charge for the service was very reasonable. Such a great customer service!!! I would recommend the Trilite Stone, Inc. to anyone with a small or big brick and stone repair project. Thank you very much, Len."

"We love our new windows, and we would highly recommend the company! Everything from the initial estimate/sales set-up through final installation has been so professional and well-done. We initially reached out a few years ago to get estimates on windows for the entire house (along with a few other companies), and with Craftsmen, we never felt pressured or like anyone wasted our time with an annoying sales pitch. We decided to wait, and we reached back out at the end of 2020 to get updated estimates. They still had all of our information and were very helpful and prompt at getting updated totals. We had some concerns with ordering (as it was in the early days of the pandemic) depending on regional closures or delays, and they were reassuring and flexible with our plan. During the installation process, everyone was so professional. Often with outside contractors, people default communicating with my husband, yet I'm the one coordinating, so it can often be frustrating, but that was absolutely not the case with Craftsmen. Everyone was very kind and respectful no matter who they were talking with. Besides just getting all of our windows replaced, we also had a large wall cut out and a custom window added, which we were a bit nervous how that would go with our stucco, and it turned out beautifully, and it was such a nice relief to know that no matter what - the crew would handle it. It was quite the undertaking and a very large investment from us, but it was so worth it for how beautiful everything looks inside and out and how seamless the process went."

"Mike did a beautiful job matching and replacing my leaning chimney to the roofline. The 100 yr old brick doesn't exist anymore and what he found to come close worked out perfectly. He's very honest ,detailed and really listened to me. He took excellent care to get things done right. Very tidy and even saved my beloved blueberry bush from peril ."

"We had a different landscaping company come out and install "flagstone" over our existing limestone path. Not only did they do a horrible job, they also destroyed our drain tile which I had flagged for them and left large ruts in our yard. It took them 6 weeks to come back and "fix" the path and "repair" the drain tile. The path looked even worse than it did before the "fix", I had to run the skid steer because the two guys they sent out did not know how to operate one, and they had to use drain tile I had on site because they didn't bring any. To top it off, when they replaced the drain tile, they didn't use a union on one end, and just set the pipe up next to the old pipe, and for some reason they took the sock off as if they did not understand what it was for! It was a complete nightmare. Enter Lester and his crew. They came out, and even though the stones were not the right material for a flagstone path, they were able to take them all out and reuse them to create a beautiful path. Choosing the right company is so important for any project, and I can confidently say that "In The Rough Stonework & Landscaping" is the right place to hire for any of your stone work or landscaping needs! We will be using them again in the future!"

"Having done many repair and improvement projects over the years on our previous and very old house (1893), we had experienced a lot of frustration dealing with incompetent, indifferent, and often sloppy contractors. Even if the contractors were competent, they often cut corners in order to save themselves time on the job. In most cases we had to watch over them like hawks to try to get a quality finished product, but neither of us have sufficient knowledge or experience in home repair and improvement to be effective supervisors. We always felt very vulnerable when dealing with contractors.  We experienced these frustrations even though we did not always select the low bid contractor. Most of these projects occurred in the ?dark ages?, when reviews and ratings about contractors were not readily available. Even word of mouth recommendations did not always prove to be reliable. Thus, we know what it can be like dealing with bad contractors.    <br /> To try and avoid these problems for our recent house remodeling project, we decided to give Angie?s List a try.  This winter we purchased a 3,000 sf house (originally built in 1914) that was uninhabitable. It had been gutted with some plumbing and electrical rough-in, but it needed a lot of work.  It wasn?t a straight-forward project for anyone to take on because some of the re-work had been started, and then the house sat empty for two years.   We essentially needed an entire house remodel (interior) and a little exterior work as well (stucco and railings). This was a big job that needed a contractor who could do the job right within a reasonable time frame and have the expertise and experience to deal with all aspects of rebuilding a 100-year old house.    <br /> After all of this research, we selected Redstone Builders.  They seemed like decent, intelligent guys when we first met them. They made us feel at ease about the magnitude of the project and their ability to complete it in a timely manner. We quickly developed a sense that they were the right people for us to work with. From our past experiences with other contractors who also ?seemed? great, however, our optimism about Redstone was mixed with fear that we would eventually run into the kinds of problems we?d had with previous contractors.  However, we could not have been more wrong.   <br /> Our faith in home remodeling contractors has been restored. They finished the project on time (14 weeks) and only slightly over budget. The quality exceeded our expectations. We firmly believe that Dan wanted the house to look better than we did, and it does. He is a perfectionist with a fine attention to detail. They are honest, competent, and experienced contractors who have high standards of quality and workmanship.   True to their word, they started on the day they said they would, and had workmen (sometimes a house-full) there nearly every single day (weekends were no exception) working on the project until it was completed.  We never had to wonder what was going on or if someone was going to show up on a given day.   We never felt like they were trying to cut corners, rip us off, or pull the wool over our eyes.  They were always responsive with questions or concerns that we raised.  They were never condescending, rude or impatient.  It was an enjoyable process to work with them to transform the gutted mess that we bought into a beautiful, restored home that we are excited to live in and proud to show off.   <br /> Every single room of the house needed extensive work, including: the 3 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, foyer, 1st floor family room, 2 full bathrooms, 1st first-floor half bath with laundry room, and the 3rd floor playroom/family room. The list of tasks they completed is great and included: finish the framing, complete the heating system, complete the plumbing rough-in, complete the electrical system, foam insulation, skim coat all plaster walls, sheetrock and taping of new walls, tile work, refinish original wood floors, install new wood floors, strip and refinish original woodwork, install central air (high velocity) system, install cabinets, install granite counters, install light fixtures, install plumbing fixtures, install exterior railings, and have the top or finish coat of stucco applied. The original wood floors, window seat, buffet, bannister, doors and endless wood trim that had been covered by coats of paint or grimy stain were all restored to stunning condition.  They also found a unique subcontractor to restore our beautiful but neglected nearly 100-year old front door and create a stained glass window for it that matched others in the house.  Thus, we were able to maintain the character of an old house with all of the woodwork and built-ins that we were seeking, but add modern amenities such as central AC and an owner?s suite to make for more comfortable living.  We firmly believe that Redstone did more than was originally promised and consistently erred on the side of exceeding expectations.    <br /> A great asset of Redstone is that they are well-connected with an experienced group of sub-contractors who are used to working together and with Bob and Dan.  All of the subcontractors were very competent and eager to do the job right.  We cannot say enough good things about the subs.    <br /> Dan and Bob are easy to talk with and work with and are knowledgeable builders. They smartly included time with an interior designer in the budget, which proved very helpful in tile selections and layouts, room configurations, and paint selections. Redstone did not provide the absolute lowest total bid, but when you carefully examine the package, you realize that the allowances (for granite, tile, flooring, etc.) Bob includes are very generous. In our case, the only exception was light fixtures, where lack of a detailed inventory of needed fixtures and some higher end selections on our part resulted in a few thousand over the allowance. The entire project came in only slightly over budget  (4 %) and mostly because of change orders requested by us including a custom dinette table with freestanding bench and additional granite in the laundry room. So in fact, if you desire a quality finished product with high-end finishes, the final total for a Redstone job may actually prove to be lowest in the end. Also, Dan and Bob do not disappear when the final payment is received. They are very concerned that you are completely satisfied. Dan has been back on a few occasions with some of the subs to check and repair a few minor issues and to do paint touchups.   <br /> Furthermore, as we were preparing our old house for sale, Bob and Dan offered to help if needed by arranging for subs to work at the house with no markup on their part. After an inspection revealed a leaky shower pan (as a result of shoddy work by previous contractors), we contacted Dan and Bob and they responded just as they had promised. Dan was on the scene with their tile sub within a day or so and figured out a plan to tear out and replace the pan and the affected tile. Dan has taken several trips to the house during the demo and repair just to make sure things are going ok. Dan and Bob are sincere and keep their word. They are the best. We cannot recommend Redstone Builders highly enough.  I imagine that if you consulted with their prior clients, they all would be willing to hire them again. We are no exception, as we plan to hire them to build a new garage.   <br /> We aren?t ones to typically write reviews of a company.  We?ve just never felt strongly enough one way or the other to do so.  However, in this case, our experience with them was so positive and we think so highly of them, that we wanted to do what we could to endorse them.  If you want a job that is done right, done to exacting standards and done with the least amount of pain possible, then hire Redstone.  They are that good."

"I initially contacted CK Tile and Stone in May and they said they were swamped as a result of their 'Big Deal' promotion $550 for 40 Sq ft of back splash till end of July (fancy designs, materials, could cost extra). We decided that we'd wait for things slow down for them. Then in July they said they had a cancellation and could fit us in. <br /> We had already purchased our tiles and we took longer to come up with a design for the section above the range while they were on-sitee. We had an additional area at the table next to the pantry that that worked on as well. This was a 2 day effort to let the grout/tile adhesives to dry. They were accommodating to our design ideas and provided ideas of their own. <br /> The overall workmanship and quality looks great! They cleaned up the left over debris and materials. They came back a 3rd day since we requested additional caulking and sealing (for the limestone tiles). We are very satisfied and would love to have them over to do the same when we decide to finish our basement! <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Forest Lake, MN

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
