The quoted price was fair, the salesman knowledgeable and I had no issues with the installation. The Clopay door looks great. They made the whole project easy. The hardest part was me cleaning our the garage in order to give them the room to work. It needed cleaning out anyway! "My general contractor wanted $1800 to replace my 1-car garage door. I thought that was nuts, and I had found him to be very difficult to deal with, so I checked the list and called Juliao.

They came out a few days later and said the old door could be saved, but that an inspector might insist on a new hurricane-proof door. I said I would take the chance. They told me I could fix the old opener and repair the door, or I could get a new opener. They quoted it both ways, and I went with the new opener. Three hundred bucks.

They came back and installed the new opener, complete with electric eyes and a wall switch. While the installer was there, he pointed out a dangerous problem with the old springs.

If the inspector rejects the old door, Juliao will replace it for a fraction of what the general contractor quoted me. If not, I'll get the springs replaced and save even more.

The installers were courteous and fairly punctual. They called when they were on the way to the job so I could meet them. They gave me all the options and didn't push any upsells. They didn't nickel and dime me or pull a bait and switch. They cleaned up before they left.

A great contrast compared to the general contractor; I always dread hearing from him because it's almost always a new charge or some other bad surprise. Tradesmen should tell you everything up front instead of getting you to sign and then hammering you over and over with additional charges.
