"I had been advise that the compressor on my a/c unit was dead and I needed a new central a/c unit. I called to get a quote and when he came, he looked at the unit and said he thought they were wrong, and inside 20 minutes had it running like new. He could have just given me a quote for a new unit but went out of his way to repair my unit, telling me what to look for in the future, and charged me less than half of what I was charged by my â service â carrier, who was totally wrong as to what the problem was. I highly recommend him for his honesty and knowledge, as well as his service. Thank you Challenger!"

"Their customer service as well as technician are wonderful! I would definitely hire them again. I needed a licensed plumber and a licensed electrician urgently check and certify the work done by someone else because of the Township codes. (It was a garbage disposal replaced by my general contractor while kitchen remodeling in my rental condo, and in installation wise, everything was good.) Because my new tenants were scheduled to move in less than two weeks at that time and all the inspections had to be passed...or else they were not allowed to move in. I had contacted several licensed plumbers and electricians, but they all declined because they didn't want to certify work done by someone else. I was furious. Then, Home Advisor found "Rich's Plumbing" for me. Sheri the customer service from Rich's Plumbing called me. I explained my situation. Sheri confirmed that she can send one of technicians to my property and check and certify the plumbing part. Not only that, Sheri also tried to help me find a licensed electrician too. She was such an angel! I was able to schedule both electrician and plumber for the following day. Anthony the plumber came and checked the garbage disposal thoroughly. Everything looked good, said Anthony. Then, while I was asking questions for the bathrooms (also newly remodeled) Anthony spotted one of the bathroom sink plumbings had used a flexible pipe that were illegal (not allowed) in NJ. He told me that just because Home Depot sells it doesn't mean we are allowed to use it. (The reason why my general contractor and I decided to use the flexible piping was because the new vanity's drawers was taking too much space and didn't leave much space to put a traditional piping.) But Anthony explained me why we needed to use a P-trap type piping instead of the flexible type, and it had to be done even if we cut and alter the vanity drawers. I understood that the sink piping had to be corrected in order to pass the inspection. I thought Anthony was going to say that he needed to come back another day to fix, but instead, he was so confident that he was able to fix it right away. He stepped out once to get a necessary part from the store, and he flew back and LITERALLY fixed it right away. Not only that, he cut and put the piping in the way so that the vanity drawers fit and close perfectly without touching the piping (so, I didn't need to alter the drawers). Amaaaazing!! Anthony also taught me the proper way of testing leakage. It was so educational. I had hired licensed plumbers in past here and there, but I had never met anyone who was so experienced, friendly, confident, and educational. I think his confidence comes from his experiences, and it also made me feel very comfortable and confident in his work as well. I was so happy! Lastly, Rich's Plumbing team was very accommodating for my need. I needed to file and request the inspection ASAP because of my new tenant's scheduled move in date. They prepared the paperwork by following morning, so that I was able to pick it up early morning and filed it directly at the Township. I had such a wonderful experience with Rich's Plumbing. When they say they will, they will. I know that I can count on them. Thank you very much for Sheri, Anthony, and all Rich's Plumbing team! You are amazing!!"

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Franklin Park, NJ

Coils work to absorb heat into the refrigerant that flows through them, moving heat from one location to another. For air conditioning, the evaporator coil inside the air handler in your home absorbs heat. It then transfers the heat outside to the condenser coil, where it releases it. The opposite process happens for heat pumps. When the coils get dusty and dirty, it reduces how well these components work.

Skip regular cleanings, and dirt, debris, and mineral deposits will blanket your evaporator and condenser coils. When that happens, the coils can’t shed heat efficiently, so the system works harder and your energy bill climbs. Over time, overheating strains the compressor and can trigger a full breakdown—an avoidable repair that often costs far more than a simple annual cleaning.

AC coil cleaning is an investment that pays for itself in the benefits it provides. Dust‑caked coils force your AC to run longer, so you spend more on electricity and rack up extra wear. A quick professional cleaning restores efficiency, trims monthly bills, and eases strain on expensive parts. Over the long haul, that small yearly fee delays pricy repairs and stretches the unit’s lifespan, making coil cleaning one of the smartest HVAC tune‑ups you can schedule.

Watch for higher electric bills, rooms that stay warm no matter how low you set the thermostat, or an AC system that runs nonstop. Extra humidity and frost on the coils are also red flags. Catching these clues early lets you schedule a quick cleaning before the system overworks itself and triggers an expensive breakdown.

Your AC cleaning technician starts by shutting off the power to the unit and removing the faceplate. Compressed air and a vacuum hose blast away loose debris, followed by a coil-safe, no-rinse cleaner that dissolves stubborn grime. After the solution has soaked in, the professional wipes the fins, reassembles the housing, and restores power, leaving the system ready to cool at peak efficiency.
