"Following current health procedures (masks), Roy and Linda came to my home and showed me fabric samples. They helped me choose a fabric appropriate for the chair, after which they took the chair and delivered it back to me in a timely manner when the work was completed. Not only did they reupholster the chair, but Roy refinished the worn, scratched legs on the chair. The finished chair looks brand new! Roy and Linda work as a team. Their workmanship is outstanding, their communication good, and their pricing reasonable. I highly recommend them if you are in need of of having something reupholstered. In fact, I was so impressed with their work, that I am having them reupholster the cushions from my porch furniture. Thank you, Roy and Linda for your superior service!"

"

We got a quote from two companies and Carolina Solar Control agreed to beat the other company's price.  This was a particularly good deal because Carolina Solar Control can offer a 3M manufacturer's warranty whereas the competitor can only offer their own warranty (still good, but not backed by 3M).

Susan came to our home and gave us samples and a written quote.  She explained the film and the process.  We have an old 1960's brick ranch with a very large picture window in the middle of the living room.  We removed the old metal awning to allow more light into the room, but the sun shines right into that window in the afternoon and it makes half the house very hot.  We did not want to "tint" the window - we wanted to let through as much light as possible while reducing the heat coming into the house.  When we had insulation blown into our attic, the contractor mentioned the window film that this company provided as a good solution.

Susan was great to work with and was patient with our questions.  The only "complaint" I have is that we had to wait 3 weeks for the install.  This is a minor issue as good companies are always going to be busy, and it's hard to complain much since they negotiated with us on the price.  The installer was very professional, was polite but not "chatty" (a big plus!), and did an excellent job.  Susan told us that most of their installers are also background checked by the federal government because of their need for security clearances to work on military installations and in government buildings.

We are very pleased with the results.  I don't know how much it will help with our power bill, but it makes the room more comfortable and that is what we wanted!  The quality of light has not been diminished and no one would even know the film was there if we didn't tell them.  It is a really odd sensation at first - you can stand in front of the window with the blazing sun and there's no heat radiating from the window!  For folks who do want some tinting or are less stringent on their requirements, Carolina Solar does offer different options.  The Prestige 70 is their "top of the line" consumer product and we are very happy with our choice.

"My shades are up. My husband didn't think it was a good deal at all. It was advertised as $89. All we got were simple darkening blinds, and it ended up costing us $299 so I thought it was false advertising. I told the man that and he said how much better his blinds were. I would not recommend them to anyone. They were just blinds similar to the blinds I already have in my bedroom. It cost me much more than the ad indicated. I said I thought it was $89 for $350 worth of blinds but he said the blinds I picked out were more money. I could have bought them at Lowe's for $50. The 2 blinds are stuck. It was a very poor deal. It makes me think I'm not interested in getting Angie's deals again. I thought he had falsely advertised on Angie's List and I saw him advertising again. The blinds are good quality, there's no question about that. He said the warranty is for life. I don't know about that until something happens to them. They were okay. I told him that I didn't like the price. I already put the $89 in so I had already paid that so I didn't want to lose that. If I had known what they were going to end up costing, I would not have bought them. I would say they should honor their price that they're advertising on Angie's List. I would not use them and I would not recommend anyone else using them."

"We purchased the unlimited consultation package. Amanda is very friendly and professional. We struggled because we were looking for someone to consult with out of the box ideas. Once she understood our vision she could move forward, but innovation was not her strength. We paid an additional amount for drawings. These were detailed, and while not all changes were made as requested, we were able to get some value from them. In hindsight, I would not pay $99 for drawings. Any cabinet retailer will do these for you for free, which I did not know until afterwards. The company wants you to spend time telling them about your style, which ours is Country French. The first cabinet rendition we received was black expresso. We did a complete kitchen tear out so this may work fine for smaller jobs or if you have done this before. It just didn't work for us with distance and what we needed. I was able to find someone locally that sold the cabinets we wanted and she was a wealth of information and things moved much faster. Good luck to HMD. It's a good idea and the person we dealt with we liked personally."

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Franklinton, NC

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
