"Butch called back right away. Came out in a timely fashion. Got one unit working. Then he said the main board was malfunctioning on the downstairs unit and would have to be replaced. It would cost 1200 or 1300. But if we spent a little extra on a service contract he would wave the trip fee and it would be 1100 something. Okay. We did that. It was too late for him to get the board that day so he came out the next day to install the board. But the unit still didn't come on. He said the thermostat was bad and it would we 300 to 500 to replace the thermostat depending on what we wanted. My husband told him we could do that ourselves. Just by pass it and get the unit working. Then he came down and said that the blower motor was out and it would be 1800 to replace the blower motor or 2400 to just replace the whole unit and then we'd be under warranty again. I told them I wanted a second opinion before we did that. I called Ed & Sons they came out, confirmed that we did need a new thermostat. And said they could rebuild the blower motor for around 100$. I ordered two new thermostats for 300 for both of them and my husband installed the thermostats. The work they did was fine. But I felt like they were more of the school of let's just replace parts until it works or we can sell them a new unit. Rather than what can we fix."

"The installation went well. They put in a smaller unit after checking our square footage and insulation rating in attic and the type of windows we have installed. They said our current unit was larger than what was needed and keeping the same size would end up causing the unit to recycling more (cut on/off), thus causing more wear and tear on unit and electrical costs.  It was our choice as to what size we wanted installed. We went with smaller unit and it works great and saved us $$$ by going down in size.. We were also told if we are not satisfied with the unit within one year, we could change it out for the larger unit.  We had some issues with the cleanup (this was a new crew). I called and they sent a supervisor out and the mess was cleaned up. He also checked the work that was done on the installation.  After having the unit for several weeks they did an follow up call to check to make sure the unit was working properly for us and inspect the unit. Great having the follow up and customer service. This is a great company with excellent service and also looking at saving money for the customer.

The second technician discovered a broken part on the outside unit and replaced it. The second technician was very thorough and determined to find the problem. The first trip charge, with coolant, was $476.42. There was no service charge for the second trip, only for the new part, an additional $198.38."

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. "What a fantastic experience!! I scheduled an appointment to have my system assessed for a mildewy smell with TKO after I had received poor service from another provider.  They scheduled me for the first available appointment, approximately 3 business days later. The next day, I discovered that my outdoor unit fan was not working. TKO originally thought that they wouldn't be able to come out until the next afternoon, but then did some digging to see exactly where their technicians were in the field, and figured out one crew was just around the corner. They fit me in, and were able to fix the problem in 10 minutes flat with the best attitude (it was already close to 5 on a hot day). They didn't even charge me!
On the day of my scheduled appointment, they arrived on time, and immediately diagnosed my mildewy smell. They had an easy solution to the problem. and provided education about way for me to easily do some preventative maintenance. They also recognized that my system had not been properly serviced by the previous company (which I was aware of) and offered to re-service it for me, which then qualified me for a discount for the service call for fixing the mildew issue.
All three technicians I worked for were very professional, very friendly, and provided useful information. They were careful about keeping the house clean. They did not try to upsell me on anything I didn't need, and even provided me some money-saving tips. I would be happy to work with this company as long as I live in Austin.
