"The contractor was very professional and did an excellent job. I only had some old paint, so he went and got a new can of paint at the local home improvement store. My appointment was delayed a few days due to circumstances beyond their control, and they worked with me to reschedule the work on a day that would work for me. I would definitely hire them again."

"I get them for everything they do. I know the owner personally, and I have used them for about fifteen years now off and on. They are not the cheapest folks in the world, but when they do a job, it is done right. I had some problems with one skylight outside the warranty period and the owner came out himself. He got up there, looked at it, and cleaned out some debris that had accumulated. He got a hose up, washed it down, and blew it all out. I never had a problem with it since, and that was two or three years after warranty. He assured me that it did not need replacing. They do not do unnecessary work. That impressed me. I like everything about their service and everything about their people. They are on time. They do what they say they are going to do. They are very conscientious. The workmen clean up after themselves. Anything you want out of a construction company, these guys do it well."

"I had excellent service, they showed up on time and got the roof repair done rather quickly. <br /> We currently have a one layer roof and could get another layer before we have to have to starting over all together. We decided to go with the repair along with other issues that needed to be fixed and wait to get the next layer at another time. I feel like they knew what they were doing and had seen other roofs they had done in the neighborhood, which looked really nice. I would hire them again and feel like I was getting the job I paid for. <br />"

"I ADORE my new bathroom. Tim, their construction guru, was FANTASTIC. Ira, the owner, was PROFESSIONAL AND RESPONSIVE. Would I use them again? Yes, as long I I didn't have to deal with the sales rep. Tim, the construction guru who did all of the work, was wonderful! A true craftsman. Honest. Meticulous work. Every night left my home cleaner than it was before he arrived. Plus he is a wonderful guy. The owner, Ira, was great. He was not involved initially however he had to jump in as he could tell how frustrated I was with the sales rep. Before I share more on this, please know that I am VERY pleased with my new bathroom! Great work, looks great, and a fair price. It was just that the sales rep was tough to work with - not organized, had me doing so much of the planning work, and he just doesn't know when to stop talking and start listening. - The sales rep is inherently a decent guy, but clearly our personalities did not click; I know what want, am outspoken, like input but when I speak my mind move on, and I like action not words. The rep was so frustrating to work with I had to get the owner involved as the guy was driving me batty. - Warning signals should have been obvious early on. Like when I talked about how I wanted to replace the fronts of the vanities, etc. A last minute "Hey I'm close to your home can I stop by to show you samples" (requests to meet were typically last minute like this) - then he brought over 2-3 samples from his warehouse. They weren't close to what I was looking for. His point was they had some left over and the cost was cheap. I have an amazing penthouse condo; I never said I wanted cheap, and I was clear on the color I wanted. As was often the case, he typically failed to listen and was more focused on his ideas (that I continually shared I didn't like and I knew what I wanted). - Then he'd text me that he's close by and could he stop over so I could pick cabinet faces - and quickly had to select from one small catalog. - I finally said we needed to go visit facilities to pick out lights, hardware, etc. And when we went to the tile shop and Home Depot to pick things out, I don't believe he even made a single note. I finally provided links to every item selected. I could go on...but whew. - I regularly had to follow up, remind of key steps, keep lists of what they had to do because this guy is thoroughly unorganized and seemingly unfamiliar with the detailed, actual steps needs to go from conversation to completion of a project. - I continually asked for a document that listed everything we did and the items purchased or used so that I had records for future reference and tax returns (to show money invested in my home to increase my basis in the home). I never got it. Finally the owner got it to me after the job was done. - Likewise I asked for plans on what they would be doing; I finally had to draft them. I included details on every aspect, down to hardware being purchased, paint colors, etc. as the rep had no clue and could not give me a plan. This made Tim's job much easier as he had a drawing showing what color was to be used for what walls, what walls were getting what tile, etc. - Most frustrating was that the rep never knew when to stop talking. He is so busy talking or thinking about what to say next that he is a terrible listener. I can't tell you how many times I'd say I want "x" color fixtures or whatever, then he'd always talk about how his wife is a high end interior decorator and she'd suggest "y." Plus, he really missed some key points about the quote - saying they could do work that ultimately Tim had so say "no, can't install a new tub, have to work with the current one." - The worst case of the above was when we went to Home Depot to pick out faucets, etc. At one point I asked him to please go and walk around the store and let me look alone as I needed quiet time - without his non-stop talking. He said OK. And then he continued to stand next to me and keep talking. I finally had to raise my voice and say, "Please leave me along...go somewhere." It reminded me of the scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail when the prince's father tells the guards to stay and watch his son until he comes back - and as the father turns to leave the room the guards follow him - and when he asks where they are going, they respond "we're going with you" - a classic case of not listening. On my ratings, all good scores were for Tim and the owner, any bad scores were for the sales rep, and most B scores were a blend of interactions with all three (with the rep pulling down the score)."

"I asked three different contractors for estimates to do this work. Two were responsive and provided written estimates (Bond Home Improvements said they would provide an estimate after scoping the job, but never did and were not responsive to f/u calls asking for status of est). Rick's estimate was clearly the most thought-out and well-considered. We added some items as the work progressed and other needs became apparent. The workers did a nice job and were helpful in making suggestions for improvements, which added to the overall cost of the project, but were ultimately a benefit to the how things worked out in he end. <br />"

"I was very excited to get brand new windows because the old ones were in such a bad state; however, since this was a big job that cost a lot of money, I was nervous at the same time. I can honestly tell you that all of the people I experienced during this process were extremely professional and I would highly recommend them. I purchased the Pella Architectural Series windows. I know that I could have gone with a vinyl or fiberglass window, but I had my heart set on Pella wood windows. These windows are beautifully crafted and have made such a difference to the look of my home, as well as the temperature. My house is so warm now and the look is truly elegant. Everyone that I encountered in this process was warm, organized, and thoughtful. Rob (the salesman) was punctual and sat with me for a few hours designing the plan. I never felt rushed or pressured. He was very patient with the revisions I kept making and even worked with me to save me money. Mike the project manager was great to work with as was Lanie the scheduler. They were always kind and respectful any time I had a question or concern. Finally, I can't say enough about the installers. Ben, Steve, and Bobby were a pleasure to work with. Their skill level is truly amazing. They worked together so well, and got the entire job done in 2 days. They kept the mess to a minimum and thoroughly cleaned up when the job was completed. It was freezing cold out the entire time and the snow was relentless; however, the weather conditions did not stop them. They worked fast and smart and I can't sing their praises enough. If you are looking for beautiful, quality windows as well as a professional team to guide you through the process, I feel you won't go wrong with this company."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Grantsville, MD

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
