"I highly recommend Apex Radon Solutions. From getting the estimate to getting the work done, everything was just outstanding. Marco and his crew of 3 men showed up early and were all knowledgeable and extremely skilled. I had to install a radon fan and put in piping and electrical. They measured the piping with care and accuracy and did an excellent job with the installation. Iâ m truly impressed with the professionalism and quality of the work. They were also very reasonable with their prices. Thank you Apex for such great work."

"A&R was very responsive to our questions got back to us promptly with a quote.  Due to snow they had to reschedule our appointment, but they came right out as soon as possible.  Their work was excellent and we really appreciated that they left us with a radon test to allow us to test and make sure the system worked (which it did, with flying colors). <br />"

"Amazing! Fernando was really helpful. He looked at our job, and helped us navigate an erroneous elevated radon level due to the weather. He saved us in a situation where we would have spent a thousand without solving anything. Thank you. Your guidance and engagement was very helpful."

"Answered the phone themselves which was a huge plus. Very kind and professional, and called back promptly. Technician seemed very knowledgeable and was nice enough to explain what he was doing at each step. However, I do feel like I was completely ripped off by this company. I have since gotten estimates from 2 other local companies for the same work and it was half the price. Because of this I cannot recommend them nor would I hire again, which bothers me because at the time I would have said absolutely to both. Also told me not to drink my water until the chlorine is gone but could not provide me with any kind of test to tell when this had occurred."

"Really well. Chris knows how to think about the problem, explain the solution and accomplish it. When something he suggested needed more work, he figured out a way to tackle the problem from a different direction. Difficult job since the basement housed the well and radon was seeping up from underneath the floor, and there were 2 sump pumps and a french trench on the outside edges. Basically water everywhere which carried the radon in the air. Excellent job, efficient."

"Easy to recommend these guys. Johnny was there when I arrived, already checking out the outside of the house. Very thorough throughout. Even impressed my real estate broker who has been through dozens of these inspections. She made sure to get his contact information. Extremely thorough and explained everything as he went along; even provided some suggestions for ongoing maintenance beyond the scope of his work. Summary: responsive, prompt, professional, thorough and a very nice guy to work with. These are the guys I'd call if I had to do it again. Highly recommended. <br /> I listed the provider's location because I don't want to disclose the house address. <br />"

"Immediate response from website inquiry with available times. Estimate provided immediately. Confirmation given. Inspection was thorough; two inspectors for two hours total. The time flew by, learned a lot about what sort of things to look for in a home when buying almost like being an insider. Items requiring attention all explained, remedy recommendation provided. Everything done physically and told verbally was documented plainly afterward. No surprises at all from the inspection to the report. If it weren't my potential future home being inspected I would have had more fun. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Hamden, CT

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
