"DON'T BELIEVE THEIR MARKETING. QUESTION EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE PROBABLY JUST GUESSING. I hired Retrofoam to fix a specific issue with a drafty, cold, west-facing room on my first floor. The initial experience was fine and I hired them based on their slick marketing and sales pitch. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. In hindsight, the assessment felt rushed, but I trusted their expertise when they recommended removing the fiberglass insulation and spray-foaming rim joists. Unfortunately, after spending $2,300, the fix made absolutely no difference. When I sent a video showing that the draft problem wasn't fixed, they essentially ghosted me until I left a one-star review here. They then returned and the technician confirmed 32 degrees at the floor level. 32 degrees! He also admitted that their SALESPEOPLE DON'T CARRY APPROPRIATE DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS. On a call later with Aaron (Retrofoam's owner) when I asked about their sales process, he told me that their salesp"

"Lacks integrity, dishonest and untrustworthy Do yourself a favor and call another company. My experience with this company was very poor. Went through a difficult situation throughout a job. They turned their back, didn’t take ownership and deflected blame. I took this company to court and was compensated. I’ve heard from other dissatisfied customer’s this isn’t the first time nor the last … You reap what you sow. If you choose to do business with this company protect yourself, do not sign their hold harmless and do not trust their word. This company states it’s built on integrity, honesty and trust. Just because it’s a veteran owned company doesn’t mean they inherently have these traits. I’d argue if a veteran has to highlight that, they are the opposite of what they say."

FAQs for spray foam insulation projects in Harbor Beach, MI

Local and federal rebates are available for insulation installation, which can significantly reduce your overall costs. Many utility companies offer incentives or rebates to homeowners who improve their home's energy efficiency. Contact your local energy provider or government agencies to learn about available programs in your area, and consult with a professional insulation installer to maximize your savings.

It's not necessary to remove old insulation before adding new insulation, as long as the existing insulation is in good condition—dry, free of mold, and not damaged. Adding new insulation on top of old insulation can improve your home's energy efficiency by increasing the overall R-value. However, if the old insulation is wet, moldy, or damaged, it's best to remove it before installing new insulation to prevent potential health risks and ensure optimal performance.

Insulating a house takes between five and twelve hours for batts or boards, and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. The exact time depends on the size of your home, the type of insulation, and the accessibility of the areas being insulated. Keep in mind that projects may take longer if old insulation needs removal, if there's a larger square footage, or if spaces are difficult to reach.
