". I just had 6 windows on my first floor replaced with new Window Nation windows that are wood and vinyl, with double locks. They are wonderful. The two men that installed them Nick and Darn were great. They made sure I knew how to open, lock and open for cleaning, I can't say enough about these two installers. They took all of 15 minutes for lunch and worked all day. Nick had to cut down the window sills because they were too big, 5 inches, he cut them down to 3 or 3 1/2 inches. Then Darn made sure I understood what type finish I needed for the wood. I have now showed them off to, friends and family as far away as Hawaii. I highly recommend Window Nation Windows and their Team. Happy Home owner Nora Burrows"

"I needed to have the 2 plumbing vent collars on my 2nd story roof replaced as the 'builder grade' collars started to leak. Looking on-line, I e-mailed 6 contractors who 'specialized' in roof repairs. Of those 6, only 2 responded the next day to set up an appointment. Marnie from Hackman SmartRoof schedled Kyle to stop by that afternoon. He explained the materials he would be using (ie the new boot, replace shingles, etc), told me about the 1yr warranty and gave me a price of $369. The other contractor came by a few days later and gave me a price of $700 with no warranty. They made my decision to go with Hackman SmartRoof very easy. Kyle came by the following week and worked very safely and efficiently. I couldn't be any happier with Kyle and Marnie! They made my small roof repair seem as if it was the biggest and most important job they had. When I need to replace my roof, I'm calling Hackman SmartRoof!!"

"We had a sun porch installed by Four Seasons PAsunrooms about 2 years ago. It was a great installation and has performed with no problems except that a 3/4” metal piece that holds the screen door shut broke in two. They install porches like this and use this part on many screen doors. The part weighs less than ½ ounce and is simply a small piece of solid metal. I can install it myself so I asked PAsunrooms if I could get the part. They sent me a “quote” for $63 for this part ($60 for the part and $3 for shipping). Obviously outrageous for a ¾” piece of metal. Do business with them if you want to, but hope nothing breaks and you need a part."

"We had our roof, gutters, and downspouts replaced by Joyland Roofing in December 2024. Jason Martin came out to do estimate and stayed my contact person through the whole install. We are very happy with our choice in Joyland Roofing and the 25 year workmanship warranty."

"Excellent. The price was excellent and he made sure to take care of all the minor issues that came up during the process even if that meant trips later as replacement parts were shipped."

"It went very well! Darrel came out, gave us an estimate, which we accepted and set a date. He arrived at the agreed upon time, was courteous, professional and very neat. He had to remove all the old dry caulk around each skylight and replaced it... very neatly. With the window, he had to remove the wooden exterior trim and replaced it with Fhipon (not sure of spelling). It turned out very nice, and he kept to the estimate. We are very pleased with his work and will hire him again."

"Steve and Steve from Rovegno's came out and addressed several areas of my house that needed insulation work. To make a long story short, another company (which shall remain nameless) came out and insulated my upstairs in the fall, but did not address and / or missed several areas. Rovegno's, the outfit i should have hired in the first place, came out in the winter and fixed the problem areas for a fair price. Rovegno's was very helpful, easy to work with, and I'd hire them again."

"We used Alan two years ago; he got the job done and left a note so we knew. This time, he also took care of everything and left us the bill (the previous time was pre-paid) without anyone having to be home. Other companies we were in touch with wanted to schedule inspections, discuss proposals, or try to sell us gutter covers; Alan just showed up and got it done. Next time we'll just start with Alan."

"On West Shore's first visit to my home salesman Jason showed me a good product, not the best I had seen but a good one, and mentioned his price along with the standard sales gimmick that I had to buy now to get that price. I declined, saying that I wanted to shop around. He left, giving me neither written proposal nor brochure about the product. (I would learn that this is Standard Operating Procedure in the replacement window biz.) A day or two later someone from West Shore's "Quality Department" telephoned to ask how the visit went and then added, "by the way, we reviewed your pricing and think we made a mistake. We'd like to come speak with you again." Well, ok, I guess. Before the agreed upon date came I had to reschedule and when I did so I asked the young lady (or so she sounded on the telephone) "can't you just tell me your new price over the phone?" "No, he might have to remeasure your windows" came the reply. So we set a new date and this time sales manager Mato visited (another SOP is that they never send the first guy back), offered me a new price about a thousand dollars cheaper, still no written proposal or brochure, and made sure I understood about the same as cash financing in case money was the reason for my hesitation. No, I said, I have more shopping to do. He left and by the way never remeasured anything. In the end, after speaking with a total of four companies, I chose one of the others, whose product, I felt, was as good but whose price was a couple of thousand lower. My advice to anyone is, no matter what they say, tell them you're not ready to make a decision and talk to three or four companies. Ed Schrom"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Harrisburg, PA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
