"This is a recommendation for a great garage door company - Delta Door. We used Delta Door 2 years ago when one of the springs over the garage door broke from old age. We went ahead and replaced both of them. They did a good job, charged a fair price, and when we needed help today, that's who we called. My wife returned from taking the dog to the vet announcing, "I screwed up." I quickly went through 2, 374 possible scenarios before she told me, "I backed into the garage door on my way to the vet. I tossed my coat on and went to the garage to survey the damage. In my mind, I imagined the door crushed in half, and wondered how I was going to keep thieves from emptying my garage tonight. Fortunately, it wasn't that bad. She just knocked a roller off the track. I just had my left knee replaced so I decided I was in no shape to try to fix it myself so I asked her to call Delta Door. We lucked out - they were already in the area and said they could squeeze us in and be at our house in an hour. When they arrived I showed them the roller, and asked, "Is this a big deal or a little deal?" They said it was "a little deal" and sure enough, they popped the roller back in and hammered the track back in shape within two minutes. Then they gave our garage door a tune-up, spraying the track with lubricant and tightening all the hardware. Total Charge: $78.00. I thought I'd end up paying at least a couple of hundred bucks. The two guys that did the repairs were great. I highly recommend Delta Door for any garage door or opener jobs."

"They gave me a quote for an open ended $2225. I probably will not get them for another quote because their prices seem to be limited. There was so much work that they wouldn't do. They quoted me for what they would do and as far as cutting the brick and that kind of stuff, they have to bring in somebody else."

"Easier than imagined. My grandparents were stressed out about the repairs, and the cost was quoted anywhere from 15-20+ thousand. Zykan exteriors was on the lower end and even though the insurance took care of a lot financially, that’s a lot! The work looked great, there’s been no problems, the crew was extremely professional and detail oriented. They seemed to care about their perception and answered all questions and the cleanup was just as good as the work done."

"It went extremely well. The technician from Illinois Garage Repair was very professional and did an excellent job in replacing the garage door opener. He even went "beyond the call of duty" by programming all of my remote controls."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Highland, IL

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
