"Ben responded very quickly to my initial request, came out to give me an estimate the next day and got the work completed within a week of the request. He repointed our entire exterior brick foundation and stuccoed two interior brick walls in the basement. He also came back to repoint a small area he missed right away. The final product looks great at a very reasonable price. Ben was very professional and responsive."

"We needed our entire roof replaced. The group of installers did an outstanding job. They were so efficient and thorough in all aspects including an immaculate clean up of the property afterwards. The lead for the crew, and the project manager were so personable and communicative!! Our roof looks great and we would absolutely recommend them to anyone that needs roofing work done on their structure."

"It went flawlessly. The three guys arrived on time and made fast work of disassembling our granite slab front steps, by hand. They created a new reinforced base with crushed stone and reassembled the slabs to a new level surface. They patched two concrete retaining walls. Then the attacked the 37-year dirt build-up on our large concrete patio. They cut and filled a few large cracks and pressure washed the surface so that it now looks like a completely different patio. I could not be happier with the completed results of these three too-hard-for-us projects. Excellent work by three very hardworking professionals!"

Customers say: Quality work

"We had a wonderful experience with Steve on our bathroom remodel. We are fairly new homeowners and this was our first experience with a contractor, and we wouldn't change a thing. He did literally everything - installed a tub, did some beautiful shower tile work, plumbing, painting, electrical work, replaced drywall, window replacement, floor install, and more. Not only was the quality of work impeccable, he made sure to keep in constant contact regarding any unanticipated project changes and how they would impact the schedule and our budget. He showed up on time, kept the space clean, and simply did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. I'm not sure you could ask for more. We look forward to having him back for other projects."

"The brick chimney on my 55-year-old house had missing and loose bricks, crumbling mortar, and severe staining. Also, when the house was reroofed five years ago, the roofers did not do a proper job of installing flashing against the chimney. I first contacted Dave Robinson mid-summer, and he came out to examine the project. Initially he thought he could get to it in late August but he then said it would be sometime in October. As it wasn't an emergency (I had, after all, been living with this for years), that was OK with me. Dave and his crew arrived in early October and, over two days, did a great job repairing the chimney, reinstalling the flashing properly (so that the top of the flashing was embedded in the mortar, and then sealed it all with a breathing sealer. Perhaps my only gripe was that communication was intermittent, especially by email, but he did respond and did the work he quoted for the agreed-upon price. I have attached before and after photos. I'm very happy with his work and plan to call on Dave again when I am ready to install a fireplace insert (as the interior of the chimney needs work.)"

"Steve Key and his son Zach did an awesome job on our patio. They tore out the fence surrounding an enclosed patio and replaced the tiles with beautiful designer stones and open the entire area up to the back yard. What impressed me most was the prep work to make sure that there would be no "frost heaves" common in New England. <br /> It should also be noted that they worked closely with another contractor that built a pergola on the patio that Key Landscaping created. All contractors worked together as a team and the project went without a hitch! I only wish that Angies List would allow me to display a before/after photo because the results are nothing short of amazing! <br /> After all the work was completed I refinanced the house and had it appraised. The bank appraiser raved about our patio. She said she has not seen anything like it before and commented that it was like adding an additional room to our house. She said it positively affected the value of our house. <br /> I would definitely recommend Key Landscaping for patios or other jobs that requires detailed work. They did a great job!!! <br />"

"The owner, Matt, as well as his staff Noah, Josh, and the office manager Michelle were all a pleasure to work with. I would happily hire Black Moose Chimney again and plan to use them from here on our to sweep the chimney they created in my home. <br /> I recently purchased a 200+ year old colonial farmhouse with a centrally located brick chimney that has seen a lot of use and abuse over the years. We wanted to switch from our expensive propane heating system to a wood burning stove, and we hired Matt to diagnose what needed to be done to use the existing historic chimney. <br /> Matt figured out that this chimney had many years ago been lined with a now decaying 8" metal liner with mortar poured in around it. It had a number of thimbles going to the kitchen and living room, and the portion of the chimney above the roof line had decayed to the point that it was no longer salvageable. They showed us photos demonstrating the need for the various aspects of work.  <br /> After we accepted his quote, which we found to be reasonable for the scope of work, Matt came by and created the brick hearth. We're very pleased with the way it turned out. He demolished the chimney above the roof line and prepared the chimney for the 6" rigid stainless steel liner. They installed the 6" chimney liner and built up the new chimney and flashing. Josh performed a lot of the brick work, he took his time and was very meticulous in his craft. They finished the chimney, poured in insulation around the liner, and installed a nice bluestone cap. The chimney looks beautiful and appropriate for our historic home, we are very happy with the work.  <br /> They had to break out some of the inside brick to install the new thimble for the liner, and the brickwork Josh and Matt did looks wonderful. They used some original bricks (which we had extras of from an old chimney, thankfully) and even took the time to mix the special lime mortar that would match the mortar in our historic home. They sealed and covered up the old thimble into the kitchen.  <br /> They had to work around some weather, which stretched the project out longer than anticipated, but they were able to have the chimney system functioning so the wood stove, when delivered, could be immediately hooked up and used. With some of the unforeseen challenges they ran into with this particular chimney, I was concerned that the original quote would be exceeded. However, when it came time to settle up, they asked only for the original price I was quoted. <br /> We have several children and Matt and his team were very careful, polite, and friendly when they came across the kids. They cleaned up after themselves and put on booties or put down protection to ensure our flooring wasn't damaged during all of the work. Noah especially was kind to the children and took the time to field my son's questions while working very hard to assist Matt and Josh with their tasks. <br /> We've been using our wood stove and chimney for almost a month now and it's worked beautifully. My wife and I fully recommend Matt and Black Moose Chimney. <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Hillsborough, NH

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
