"First appointment was a week out(Friday) from original call which was ok since furnace was still running. Reggie arrived within the specified window calling ahead to verify that arrival time was ok. I showd him to the furnace and had him listen to the sound on a video I had made. He agreed that the fan motor was going bad. He called the parts warehouse and ordered the part. Told me it would be at his office on Monday. Made repair appointment for Wednesday. Gave me estimate of repair and got my OK. Arrived on Wednesday and completed repair in half an hour. Tested. AOK. Reggie put on "booties" on both visits to avoid bringing in dirt/wet. Everything was explained clearly. Cost was as provided on first visit. Very satisfied with the whole experience."

"Services were provided on time and in a professional manner. They managed to install a gas furnace, ac, and install duct work while doing minimal damage to the house. The technicians were on time, clean, and well mannered. Over all Ranger heating did exactly what I hired them to do with minimal interruption to my life, finishing the job on time, with out damage, and the house was cleaner when they left then it was when they started.

"I requested service online the night before and they called me around 9 a.m. the next morning to schedule the job for that same day (between 10-1). They then called about 15 minutes later and asked if they could show up early around 9:30). Great punctuality! The tech, Elliot, did a superb job. He explained everything to me in very thorough detail and checked and rechecked the system after every adjustment he made. My AC unit wasn't plugged into my furnace correctly and was only getting about half the volume of air needed. He fixed that as part of the maintenance cost. I needed a new air filter badly, and so I bought one from him. It was marked up 2-4x the cost of an equivalent one online. He also found a capacitor that was on the boundary of being within suitable voltage. He told me it would probably last another year if I was going to have maintenance again next year, but I had him go ahead and replace it for about $175. Maintenance fee was $199. All together a little shy of $500. It felt a little high, but he spent 3 hours at my house. I appreciate him taking his time on the job and being thorough."

"Being a reluctant recommender since circumstances vary so greatly from one site to another I can recommend SOS Insulation based on our experience and trust it would be the same for other users of this service.  The initial estimate included a good description of the needs of our 20 year old house.  Buyers inspection and other insulation companies said the same things.  Daniel and associates arrived on time as planned, completed the work as described and cleaned up appropriately following the completion of the work.  Photos taken before and after the work was done indicated that the job was competed as described.  SOS provided an apparently honest estimate and did the work as promised.

"Replace old broken aluminum windows and patio doors in a house built in the 1980s. Worked with Greg Serna(sales), John Lewis(Installation Lead) and Randy(Lead installer). I liked that Greg's sales presentation was informative and no pressure and listened to what I wanted. I had 5 companies coming out to do the bid and choose Washington Energy partially because how Greg represented his company. Greg has also been responsive and communicative throughout the process when I have questions/issues. From signing the contract to the actual installation date took about 3 month; it was more than the 6 to 8 weeks window I was told. Contract was signed in late April and installation didn't happen until late July. I think Summer is just a busy time for them and I understand so it's not a big deal. Overall, I am happy with the installation process. Randy and his crew were professional and overall did a good job. They sent couple more folks out on day 2 and day 3 of installation period to make sure the job gets done on time as promised to me. I did notice couple issues after installation that I have filed a ticket with Washington Energy Service. They responded and said they ordered the parts and will come out and address them at same time. It does take them awhile to get the parts; it has been a month. Hopefully, they'll be able to come out and address those issues soon. The replacement windows are vinyl and I do notice a huge difference in insulation. The only feedback I have on those windows is the manufacture could improve on those screens. They get bend out of alignment pretty easily. The installer had to fix a few of them. I also wish the mechanism to open/close the patio screen door is more user friendly or easier to use. Overall, I am still happy with these windows."

"I got an excellent service from this company. I called them for a simple AC maintenance check and they were very thorough. The technician checked everything from the AC unit all the way to the furnace and he was so reassuring. I must say, it was quite nice dealing with them on the phone and in person. I will continue using their service."

"My existing furnace died and we were without heat. I was not happy with my existing HVAC company so I considered 4 competitors. I had Rob of Overlake come out. He showed up on time, explained and proposed several alternative solutions, and gave me a quote a few hours later. It took me a couple of days to get quotes from others, and I ultimately decided Rob's was certainly the best. Knowing we had not heat, he was able to schedule the installation within a day of my selecting Overlake. His guys had quite a bit of sheet metal to replace in the process of installing the new furnace. They did a great job, were very punctual and professional. I am totally satisfied with all Overlake did."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Hobart, WA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
