"Bryan and his team were able to complete my water heater replacement with timing that met my needs, and high quality work. They also changed out two valves that were leaking on a connected water line for me (for an additional charge). Pelkey Services work was efficient, clean, and met my expectations. I would work with them again, and recommend them."

"The representatives of Shelby Mechanical are all top notch, starting with the office staff Cheyanne who was always attentive to prompt scheduling of the plumbing work needed at my home. The plumbers were very efficient and did an excellent job both times, and their actual bill was below the quote they provided for the job. Gabe Judge had to go through the foya ceiling to replace an upstairs bathroom drain line which he did under budget. Justin Wilson replaced my galvanized pipes with copper pipes for the water supply lines and my water pressure is like brand new. These folks consistently exceeded expectations and are superstars in my book."

"Doug Brock of Brock Mechanical is the perfect example of CUSTOMER SERVICE! He emailed me, texted me and called to get in touch about our sump pump. Once he arrived, on time, he had his tech Kevin in another truck follow him to the job. He had a replacement sump pump in his truck, job was completed in about 30 minutes, if that. While in our crawl space Doug & Kevin noted a few other details going on with out well and filter. They were honest, kind and accommodating and took care of two other issues plumbing related without being asked. They just did it! I would highly recommend Doug Brock for ANY of your plumbing needs! First time Iâ ve ever used this company, and it wonâ t be the last. We are customers for Life! ð ð"

"As the representative of Bushnell Apartments, the crew of Jason M, Emmanuel B., Gibran S., and Kyle B. did a remarkable job installing our new drain tile and two sump pumps. They worked efficiently and meticulously in the preparation for the installation. They were very professional, kind, and respectful in completing this project. The foreman, Jason, led his crew in a very well organized manner. Professionalism is the work I would use to describe the work performed by this crew. All debris was cleaned up after the job was completed and Jason showed me the work that had been done. I was very pleased! I will recommend FSM to colleagues and friends. Carlos Flores, Property Manager."

"It was excellent. Douglas was very professional, courteous, and did a couple of things to make my sub pump more steady. They left the job site clean. I talked to him over the phone and he seems to be knowledgeable and had good customer service."

"A++ Clog-Busters!! We called in the early morning and they were out to our house within a couple of hours. We will definately recommend this company to friends and family! Chris V., the plumber, who was professional and knowledgeable, came to our house and within an hour he had diagnosed, and de-clogged the main drain, and re-set the toilet. He also left our house clean of the debris pulled from the drain. Thank-you!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Holly, MI

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
