"Things went well. Rangle was flexible in working around my odd schedule; I needed the work (about a 6 day job) done in one day per week increments. He asked that I buy the stair rail brackets on my own to ensure that I got the ones that I liked and thought were priced right, which I was fine with, since I wanted to find victorian style brackets. He spent the first day just doing measurements, so that he could do much of the work back in his shop. On the second day, he installed the first few stairs - when I noticed that a few were not quite level, he ripped them out and fixed the issue right away. FIrst he did the top few stairs, then the bottom few, then the curved stair section, followed by the wainscotting and last the railings. Along the way, Rangle occasionally added wonderful decorative touches to the job, like the curved transition cut joining the wood edge of the wainscotting on wall to the one on the next. I think that his furniture making background helps him have an eye for these nice additions. When I specified old fashioned finials for the railing ends, he was able to make some in his shop. Rangle did a good job of verifying materials choices with me ahead of time, explaining the cost trade-off for each choice. When I decided to add something to the job (decorative moldings under each tread where it meets the riser), his quote for the additional work was reasonable and fair."
