"Mr. Fare came to the house at the appointed time, examined the tables, and gave opinions regarding their relative worth. He provided an estimate that was detailed and explained the waiting list. As he was nearing completion on each piece, he asked me to come and approve the appearance before the final stage. He arranged pick up and delivery. He was very punctual. Refinishing work takes time."

"I entered an open air shop with dozens of rare objects and common ones also.   He looked my rocker and gave an estimate on the spot.  I agreed and they refurbished it and upholstered it.  The job was timely, well done and reasonably priced.  The amount paid included new springs, zigger-wire, padding and refinishing the exposed wood parts with their tack-work and repairs to a broken arm.  The chair looked original in every aspect except the fabric pattern.  This happened before Angies list.   we still use the chair daily.  Thank you Mr.Seabaugh."

"We have a good quality 3x5 ash table with six chairs that are approximately 23 years old and were in need of a finish restoration. The chairs are very detailed with many spindles. We contacted one furniture restorer in St Louis and got an estimate of $2,500, not including delivery, which we thought was quite excessive. Then I saw an add for Marks' Spray Painting in the Angie's List magazine and requested a quote through email which was listed on their website. The next day I got a quote from Paul for $1,000 including delivery. Paul commented that the furniture would be good as new when they completed the work. We coordinated the schedule and Paul said it would take two weeks to complete the work. Exactly two weeks later Paul delivered the furniture and we were completely amazed at the quality of the refinishing. The finish was literally flawless and Paul removed all of the scratches. The finish was as good as new; Paul's comment was not an exaggeration. The actual cost was $1,000. <br />"

"THEY CAME OUT AND PICKED UP THE FURNITURE AND I ALMOST DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT WHEN IT CAME BACK. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! THE PROCESS THEY USED TOOK OUT SEVERAL IMPERFECTIONS AND THE LIGHTER STAIN AND FINISH REALLY BROUGHT OUT THE WOOD. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL AND DID A TREMENDOUS JOB. THAT SAID, DON'T WORRY WHEN THEY COME TO GET YOUR FURNITURE OR IF YOU HAVE TO GO DOWN TO THEIR SHOP TO PICK OUT A STAIN. THE SHOP LOOKS LIKE YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR FURNITURE AGAIN AND THEIR EMPLOYEES LOOK ABOUT THE SAME. I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF THE EPA KNOWS THESE PEOPLE EXIST WITH ALL THE CHEMICALS FLOATING AROUND THE PLACE. FANTASTIC WORK. WELL WORTH THE COST."

"We had a Pottery Barn sofa that we really liked. It was big and comfortable. But we could not get slip covers for it any longer. My sister and friends used Gomez and were extremely happy with their work. So we decided to use them. The staff was very helpful in picking out the material. Once the material was in they came out and picked up the sofa. They delivered the completed sofa in two weeks. The quality of work was excellent. But we had asked that the one big cushion to be made into two cushions and they did not make it into two cushions. The delivery guy said no problem, they would fix it. They left the house at 10 am and delivered the two cushions at 3:30 pm the same day. Outstanfing service. And the quality of the work was excellent. We would recommend them to anybody. <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in House Springs, MO

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
