"After many disappointing no calls and no shows by multiple contractors I contacted Home Advisor. Within two hours, Benjamin contacted me and agreed to come look at the job. He stuck to his word and showed up, sent me an estimate that evening and he answered all of my questions. Two days later, Benjamin showed up at my home as scheduled and he began working. He is professional, kind, he listened to me as a customer, and was very prompt. Benjamin did my flooring, some drywalling, backsplash, and installed new cabinets. I am very happy with the work Benjamin did in my home. I have other projects I definitely will be utilizing Benjamin for in the near future."

"I was really impressed with Scott and his crew. Scott was able to work my fence repair into his schedule for the same week I called. I was very satisfied with the new section of fence that was installed. The work ethic of Scott and his crew is strong and they knocked the fence repair out it 2 hours. I will definitely have Scott back out to the house in the future for other projects."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"It was great to have a trusted and dependable contractor that did excellent work with a skilled crew. Estimate provided was right on target - no increase. They took the time to explain the rebuild process so we could inspect as they progressed. We would HIGHLY recommend Cajun Carpentry for any contracting work a homeowner or business needs. Locally owned in the St. Augustine area."

"I had an old wood lattice A/C unit enclosure that had deteriorated. Steve and his team took down the old enclosure, shored up the framing, and built a new cedar enclosure. They were very professional and did great work. Highly recommend."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Jacksonville, FL

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
