"Mike called on Monday morning said he could do it sooner and came right over. He had to drill out a section under my sink to remove the pipe and the corresponding pipe downstairs. Quite a section. He ran out and bought the new pipe and installed it and was gone in a very few hours. He kept me posted as to what he was doing and I have nothing but nice things to say. Linda and her Dad have been my plumbers for about 30 years so I only have good things to say about them. THEY TAKE CARE OF ME!!
"

"Provider was prompt, professional and friendly. Arrived at the agreed upon time for a free estimate and performed work same-day after we agreed to the price. He stuck to the price despite taking longer than expected and more work than usual due to worn-rusted pipes in my home. Cleaned-up after himself and left no sign that work was done other than our new, working toilets. We are very pleased and reccomend McDonagh & Sons Plumbing & Sewer Inc.

"

"The crew of 3 showed up to work at 8 as promised. We over viewed the work we had discussed on his estimate appointment.
It took them roughly 5 hours from start to finish. Overall they installed supply lines for a bathroom: Sink, Toilet and built the supply for the shower. We had the rough in drains/vents already. They installed supply lines for a wet bar sink and drain/vent just outside the bathroom area.
He did all of the wet wall work first and got the area ready before shutting off the water. The supply to our house was only off for a total of about 30 minutes.
He was very courteous answered all of my questions. When he was finished he walked my wife through all the work that they had done as well as took some pictures and sent them to me.
All copper piping was used and although I haven't been able to test the lines yet (due to construction not being finished) it is not leaking and everything appears in order.
"

"He was punctual, friendly, VERY professional, and I got the sense that he really knew his stuff. His quote was fantastic and we would have gone through with the order but our house sold the very next day. We will absolutely be calling him in the future when we need a plumber.
"

"We had purchased a home that was almost a hundred years old (high ceilings and all) and, the furnace was so old that it was covered in rust. Finally, on a VERY cold day, it would not work. I contacted the closest contractor I could find and hoped for the best. Luckily, the phone was answered by the owner, Jerry Hunt and he told me that he would be out as soon as he had finished with a job he was presently on. Within 3 hours he was there and he went down into the basement, looked the furnace over from the inside out and gave us options. He explained to us that the furnace (due to its age) would cost more to repair than what would be cost effective and he gave us a quote on repairing it. He then sat down at our kitchen table and discussed Furnaces and their efficiency ratings and, explained to us that our old furnace was not energy efficient therefore, it was costing us quite alot in utility costs. He showed us brochures listing furnaces, gave us a quote on repairing ours, quote on replacing with a new furnace and then he discussed the Geo Thermal unit.

I have to say that we were immediately smitten with the Geo Thermal presentation but, we didn't think we would be able to afford it. We were in a bind and had to have HEAT asap. After Mr. Hunt explained that there were utility rebates and a tax credit and that this system has a long life and needs very little maintenance, we chose it.

He then told us that it would be a few days before they could actually start due to having to call the utility companies so they could mark off areas before digging. Within 2 days (luckily!) we received a call from Mr. Hunt asking if 8:00 a.m. the following morning would work to begin digging a long trench with the backhoe to place the piping in for the unit. He and his entire crew were at our home at 8:30ish and it took a couple of days to dig the trench, (he recommended a horizontal trench due to having plenting of acreage to do so) then they placed piping inside and then the pipe(s) were ran into our home and connected to the unit. I can't recall how long the trench was but I do recall that the pipes were placed beneath the frost line. On the 5th day, our unit was working beautifully, the trench had been covered, the area cleaned up and back to normal. He even told us he would take care of all rebates and, gave us documentation regarding our system. AND, we did get the tax credit and that made it very affordable.

This system runs very quietly in comparison to our old furnace that would dim the lights every time it kicked on. I appreciate the money we are saving on our utility bills and, it means alot to me to have someone who was local and who kept their word about timeframes, didn't charge us for the quote either and when all the work was completed he explained how to use the thermostat, and what our options were on setting temperatures. (This was very appreciated).

About two weeks after the unit was installed I received a call from Mr. Hunt and he was calling to thank us for our business and to ask if there were any issues or if I had any questions. To be honest, I can't remember any contractor ever doing that before. (We've had numerous renovations done to our house and there have been no follow-up calls from building contractors) lastly, he told us that he stood behind what he sold and that within a year if we didn't like the system he would make it right! Who does that in this day and time?

I found Mr. Hunt to be honest and his company reputable. The work was top quality, his workers were very courteous and conscientous that this was our home. And, I believe that good contractors deserve praise. This one is a good one.

"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Johnston City, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
