"Although I chose not to accept the proposal from this company, I was very turnned off by how unprofessional they were when they received negative feedback. The owner, Roger, was very polite and professional all through getting the estimate, however, after respectfully telling him I would not accept his proposal because it was grossly over compensated (a statement backed up by multiple neighbors who had the same work done and another estimate I received from a different contractor), he immediately sent me an email trying to convince me that the contractor I was chosing was unequipped to complete the job. He attacked the contractor and insulted me by attacking my own personal knowledge. I then posted a review of my interaction with RCH on my community's private Facebook group. He got word of this from another member and immediately threatened me with a slander law suit (nothing I posted was not true nor was it disrespectful of his business in anyway). He sent me multiple emails harassing me about my post. He even tried to join the closed group but was denied immediately. This business is not recommended. The only reason I am not giving a complete F is that I hope he was just having a bad day and hope he can do better in the future to turn his business rating around on Angie's List. I truly do hope I am the one only negative review he ever receives. I wish him luck and the very best."

"It went well. The power washing and repairs on the outside were excellently done. The interior rooms were nicely painted. The only negative - and a small one at that - was that the job got handed off to several different people and so I had to show each new person where to do the touch up work and remind about things that had been agreed upon with the previous person. The rates were a wee bit high - but they were efficient and I did initially have a bigger job and changed some things midstream. I think it all came out in the wash."

"Excellent! We were so apprehensive to build a custom home when we couldn't be there every day to oversee the project( we were 5 states away). Mike kept us up to date with photo's and progress reports. He met up with us to select finishes and was so helpful giving us tips and recommendations. Top quality workmanship. Truly and very happy with our forever home."

"We had several small items that needed repaired including some drywall repair and getting the front door re-hung to center and weatherproof.  But the biggest item was vinyl siding that needed repaired.  Wayne was able to remove siding from the front of the house and patch in to the damaged sections on the rest of the house.  He then installed some faux stone siding on the front that turned out great!  He was very quick to respond and completed the job exactly when he said he could.  Great experience and would definitely recommend him (and I have!)"

"Great experience with Hodges. We were dreading it, but needed to replace all of the windows in the house we built in Ashburn 20 years ago. Knowing it would be an investment in our home, we did a lot of research and talked to all of the major replacement window companies in the area, even listening to several presentations in our home – all seemed over-priced, and those that didn’t appeared to have an inferior product. We stopped in Hodges Windows & Doors showroom, and were met by the owners – who are friendly, knowledgeable, and straightforward. It was a great experience from the start. From our sales experience with Tom, to the quick installation and follow-up, we could not be happier with every step of the process. Our house looks great, the windows work perfectly, and our electric bill has gone down. We highly recommend Hodges, and will be going back to them to replace our exterior doors…"

"We made plans to have the work done while we were on vacation just to avoid the normal disruption that goes with construction. We covered everything in the master bath with tarps to account for whatever trash landed there. We also had planned for a third party to wire in the attic fans when we returned home. <br /> So, the plan was that while we were out of town the crew would replace all of the shingles, any soft wood underneath, and take care of the other installations. It went flawlessly. The installation was exactly as we discussed. The job was perfect (and the roof still looks beautiful). The skylights were top of the line, and the vent fans were also of excellent quality. Even the trash in the bathroom (which we expected) was minimal; I just folded up the tarps and shook them out. I found a few nails in the yard, but really only a few; other than those, you would never have known they were here. <br /> I really appreciated the fact that there was zero downtime for us. I was a little concerned with not being able to oversee the work, but everything was exactly as we discussed. Now, seven years later, not a single leak from the roof, the skylights, or the fans. I'm still very pleased. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The provider was very friendly, professional, and patient. He was able to meet with me for consultation at a time which was convenient for me. He was on time and listened to the plans I wanted and was able to make some cost and time saving suggestions. The provider completed the estimated quote in the timeframe given, and after the agreement to perform work, the provider began on time and the workers arrived promptly every morning before I left out to work, and was gone before my arrival home. The provider was very patient, as I often made changes throughout the process to include changing the paint colors a couple times, once after the entire first floor was completed. Sandro remained patient and even recommended a color that would be more appealing. Sandro was easy to communicate with day or night as he responded by phone, email, and text in a reasonable time frame. The project was finished on schedule, despite the changes that was made throughout the construction phase. The provider cleaned up after the project was all done, and made recommendations for upkeep. At finish, the final project was amazing, as the spaces which were worked on had truly been transformed to perfect satisfaction. SVC homes offers a warranty, and when there was a minor issue noted with the floor, a worker was sent out within a few days to correct the matter with excellent results. I have recommended this contractor to many of my co-workers, and neighbors, because if they can satisfy this picky customer, then you know the work is good. <br />"

"Simply put, Brian Miller is the best contractor we have ever worked with--either in West Virginia or any other state we have lived in. It actually took a year to find Brian while we went through six other contractors who were less than satisfactory for different reasons. During our year long search, one contractor left our house for Home Depot and never returned and one highly rated contractor would only estimate the job through pictures and a visit from their sales representative (a process which  took two frustrating months). In contrast, Brian spent about 20 hours with us planning the project. We initially talked about replacing the deck and patio under it, but the house had been neglected for years and the previous owner had done a lot of work that wasn't up to code. As a result, work on the deck--and only the deck--could have caused significant damage to our kitchen (which was on top of an enclosure that lacked proper footers). Brian brought out a structural engineer on several occasions and they designed a fix that was easily accepted by the County permitting office and also allowed him to create a beautiful pattern with the wood deck. The demolition actually began the first week of January and the weeks got progressively colder. Brian's team worked at an incredible speed in brutally cold weather. Brian was meticulous in measuring and laying out the footers and deck flooring--working all day in weather that left us frozen after a half hour. During the permitting process, the county said we had to replace our septic system to bring it up to code. Brian actually contacted someone to do the job in two weeks from start to finish--so it didn't impact the rest of the scheduled work at our house. After finishing the deck, the team created a beautiful paver patio underneath it. All the work was beautifully done--even the cinder block and framing under the kitchen--which isn't visible outside the house. The team also replaced rotting wood along the bottom of the house with cinder block and proper outside wood and then replaced siding on that portion of the house, choosing siding that matched the rest of the house. Brian and his team truly took the house from neighborhood eyesore to neighborhood gem. All the neighbors have told us how nice the house looks. Interestingly, everyone has also remarked on how hard the team worked, noting that they never saw them hanging around--rather they worked all day. We are already talking to Brian about another project and highly recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Kearneysville, WV

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
