"Without a doubt, I will call this company for any future needs. Last year, I had regular maintenance done on my furnace and they scared the crap out of me when they told me I needed a bunch of work done and repairs on my gas furnace. I held off and crossed my fingers all last winter and decided this year was finally time to face it... so began the phone calls.. then I got a return call from Parrish services. Alan, the owner, came to my house at 7 p.m. on a Friday to do a check on my gas furnace. This was after one company told me it would be a $6800 replacement job, and another told me $69 bucks just for them to come look at it and even then they would only tell me they'd call me Monday morning to confirm and then call me at some point Monday to let me know then they were within 30 minutes of being here, but couldn't give me any idea of what time that would be. Ugh. Add to the mix that I'm a single mom and I used to just pick up the phone and call my dad for advice on EVERYTHING.... he passed away a little over a year ago and this was the first major home issue that I had where I couldn't get my dad's advice... let the meltdowns begin... Alan came and put all my fears to rest. He was completely honest and said he didn't think I really needed to do anything right now. My furnace was clean as a whistle, was running fine, and he didn't see any reason to replace or repair anything. I had the filter in backwards, but ooopppsss... lol.. luckily I had another one, so that was a quick swap all was right in the world again. As a woman, it can feel like I have a great big red bullseye on my forehead when I start talking about home repairs to some of these contracting companies.... Parrish made me feel completely comfortable, explained everything, and treated me with the utmost respect. They're one of the few good guys out there that really just want to do right by their customers and aren't out to nickel and dime anyone or use scare tactics just to get a commission. Hands down, they got my business without question. Thank you Alan and all the Parrish crew!!!"

"Pat Farrell is a dedicated professional. He priced the project in the evening using a couple of pictures by cell phone. The price quoted is what was charged, and it was measurably less than the competition. The techs arrived early on the day scheduled, both are very polite, very professional, very efficient and considerate of our home. I will undoubtedly contact Farrell's Plumbing for any future plumbing needs and have since recommended his company to other prospective clients."

"I called Rescue1 based on Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed.  Il left the repair cost box blank because everyone's needs will vary, based on the job, complications, etc.  I did call two other plumbers for estimates, and Larry's estimate was extremely competitive.  Larry listened to my description of the small rust marks around and on my water heater, and agreed that it probably needed to be replaced.  I'm happy that he is tech-savvy -- the night before the repair, I thought I had a major problem, and texted him with the question.  He responded ASAP to my question -- problem solved!  He and his assistant showed up on time, used the little booties religiously, and got right to work.  He was attentive to my concerns about the placement of the drain pan and heater itself.  He even made a proactive fix to a drain pipe because he didn't like its potential for leaking. Larry answered all my questions, educated me about how to keep the water heater running well, and had a great can-do attitude.  I will definitely use Recsue1 for my future plumbing/gas work. <br />"

"After having several companies service our fireplace we still couldn't get to the root of the problem. One company told I needed to replace the entire fireplace to the tune of $5-$10K. Another company came out and told me I needed a new LP gas valve which would be $950 on top of the $225 service call. I decided to order the part I was told I needed myself ($175) and called Bill to install it. Bill was great and worked with my schedule. He called before heading over and arrived on time. At first glance Bill indicated he didn't think I needed a new gas valve. Turns out the part number given to me by the other company's technician was the wrong part entirely. Bill took apart the fireplace and serviced it. He cleaned out a spider web in the piping and when he put it all back together our fireplace was like brand new! His service call was reasonable and he was the only person to actually service our fireplace properly - after 4 other companies have come out before. Highly recommend Bill - he knows what he is doing and was very professional. I will not have anyone service my fireplace ever again!"

"Great job; professional & knowledgeable.  Looked at what I wanted done the week prior and provided a competitive estimate (had other plumbers quoting up to twice the agreed upon price for our job).    Showed up at the scheduled install date and time when they said they would, after calling en route to confirm I would be there to let them in.  Arrived with the parts required to split the existing gas to the house, install a whole house regulator, and run a new pool heater on a separate line at a higher service pressure (which also included another regulator at the heater and hooking that up to an existing line).  Overall, happy with what they did for us.  I would call them again and feel good about recommending them to others. <br />"

"As usual, the technician was on time--I was given plenty of notice--and he arrived within the window I had specified.  He found the problem with  my downstairs unit, which he was able to fix that day.  Later, he came back to finish my semi-annual inspection.  My downstairs unit is under my stairs and very difficult to reach; as a result, I am unable to check it regularly.  During his inspection, he found an overflow which would have saturated the beams under my house if it had continued.  He cleared the drainage pipes in both my upstairs and downstairs and prevented me from having a service call shortly thereafter.  This company has always been prompt and professional. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in King George, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
