"The installers were on time and very professional. They explained the process so you can understand. They cleaned up afterwards. Looks like no contractors were even here. A fairy God mother came in and replaced the shower with a point of a wand. Love it."

"Our project was the removal of a large Kohler walk-in handicapped bath tub and replacing it with a custom designed shower. Timothy Baker, the installer, could not have been better in any way. Tim was completely professional and dedicated, even staying very late the last evening to complete the job. A significant bonus to this project is knowing that we have lifetime warranty on the shower, even transferable to a subsequent home owner. We can also schedule routine inspections which I plan to do starting next year. We truly appreciate ImproveIt and their superb customer service and follow-up post installation."

"Had a new shower installed. We have a fairly large shower. Removed the tile, moved the built-in bench to the opposite wall, replaced all three shower heads. Elliott our installer was great! It was a big job and he got it done and I couldn't be happier!"

"Took a while for the installation to be scheduled but only because they are so busy, which proves they are a good company. It only took 2 half days to complete and it’s so beautiful. Installers were very professional, kept everything very clean throughout the process. Would definitely recommend them."

"I contracted with Plumb Tite to fix\replace my current basement sump pump system and also take care of a leak from my 1st floor shower drain. They sent out a representative (Sara) who did a thural job of assessing the situation and offered me a few options to best suit my requirements. I selected the most complete option. For the Sump system, I elected to have a battery backup with 2 pumps installed. I also needed to have the Sump discharge re-piped and checked, making sure it was working without any obstructions. Dustin and Brandon arrived at my residence at the arranged time and commenced working on the project. They kept me apprised of the progress throughout the morning. They both were very professional and respective of the current social distancing practices that are in place because of COVID 19. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time, and all debris were cleaned up nicely. Dustin and Brandon debriefed me on all the work done, explained the operation of the new sump system and proved the associated manuals. Brandon also made it a point to let me know the details of the warranted work and materials. I was happily surprised that the coverage was so great and really feel that Plumb Tite is serious about doing great work at a reasonable cost. Lastly I was contacted a day after the work by Betty, who wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the work that was completed. She also communicated how Plumb Tite stands behind their work and excels at customer service. I am convinced that is true. I can now understand why Plumb Tite has so many great reviews of their work. I would recommend them for any plumbing project\repair that they cover (which is a lot). Check out their web site if you want to know more (https://plumbtite.com/)."

"Highly rated as he is, Jeff let me know on my first inquiry that he was booked up for several months. This was not a big issue for us as we did have another shower we could use in the house so we went with him anyway. He gave us a suggestion of where to go to arrange for the new shower walls, pan, and door which we then ordered. I selected the needed new fixtures, floor tile, vanity top, and toilet and sent a detailed description to Jeff to make sure they were appropriate and after he agreed, I bought them. We had some times when we would be out of town and worked with Jeff to schedule his start time when we would be home. He arrived on schedule. He found that the old bathroom floor tile were on a couple of inches of what I would call cement and he went to work chiseling this out with the bathroom door shut to minimize the dust in the rest of the house. A nasty job is was considering that there was no openable window in the room. He took the old shower pan and walls out to the studs and joists (this areas is over a crawl space.) and put down new plywood subflooring in the whole area before putting the new surfaces in place. He kept me abreast of what was going on and along the way consulted with me several times to be sure that things like shower shelf height and shower head height were what I wanted. When the new tile was placed, it was about an eight of an inch higher than the oak flooring of the adjoining bedroom and he found a wonderful matching wood strip to smooth the transition. He cleaned minimized tracking dust or dirt into other parts of the house. I had 3 marble 12 inch tiles as a "back splash" between the top of the old vanity top and the mirror on the wall and since the new vanity top was a little taller, they no longer fit. He cut them to fit and even cut 3 unused new floor tile to that same size in case we wanted to change the back splash to match the new flooring. I have waited a year to write this review to make sure we were happy with the whole setup and we have been very happy with the new setup. My only caution would be that if you need something started right away, Jeff probably is not going to be your guy since is is busy and for good reason: He does great work."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Kings Mills, OH

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
