"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"One Call did an excellent job, and displayed infinite patience with my wife and I. The work was excellent and the new roof looks great and is leak free.
They were one of multiple estimates that we requested. Although they were not the lowest, they were reasonable, and Michael's responsiveness and professionalism was impressive. We had no preference for them one way or the other initially, and were strongly considering a couple of other companies as well, but the others did not display near the level of responsiveness as these guys did, so we ended up having a lot more contact with One Call as we got tired of waiting on other responses. I'm glad they set themselves apart in that regard early on, so that we ended up proceeding with them.
We asked a lot of questions and requested a lot of modifications on our estimate. Seriously, we asked a LOT of questions. Everything we requested was responded to and updated to our preference, without any of the sighs or decrease in service that you might expect from other contractors if dragging on the estimate process for two or three weeks as we did. They produced their certified installer certificate for the brand of shingle we selected, their proof of insurance and references at our request.
At one point, when we had an appointment to meet at the house, the owner himself showed up to discuss the job with us in person. They went out of their way to accommodate all of the special requests we made regarding some of the finer details (right down to what kind of nails we wanted used).
One item that is particularly worthy of mention is that fact that of all the roofers that came over to provide an estimate (8 of them), One Call (and Steve, in particular) was the only one to note that we have a vaulted ceiling on one of the roof sections, and express concern about using standard length nails, possibly resulting in the protrusion of nails through our natural wood ceiling inside, and suggested a couple of alternate options to avoid any problems if the decking were not thick enough. The other companies never even noticed.
Moving on.... roofing day. An army of men descended upon our house, removed two layers of shingles, installed felt and vapor barrier, installed the new roof, took care of all the vents, cleaned out some seriously clogged gutters, did it ALL IN ONE DAY, and they did an excellent job. And, in their typical high-level-of-service fashion, they made special arrangements to have the removed shingles tossed down to men on the bottom and carted off, as opposed to simply being shoved off onto tarps, because I recently had the exterior of the house painted, so as not to damage the fresh paint.
After the job, Steve (owner) and Michael both showed up to perform an inspection and ensure that everything was done correctly and to our satisfaction. It was.
We'd use these guys again without question, and possibly without even calling around for any other quotes."

Then by 8AM the next day, we had a call from the service technician saying he was on his way to address the issue! CHW worked with the technician to find out the compressor was the culprit and approved it's repair! Great customer service for a family in need during the hot south central Texas summer!"
