"Not Recommended for Thermostat Replacement — Unreasonable and Unfair $700 Charge I do not recommend Glenmont Air Conditioning & Heating for thermostat replacement work. I was charged $700 for a simple thermostat replacement, which I believe was unreasonably high and unfair. I was under the impression that the quoted estimate represented the maximum expected cost only if the technician had to perform additional wiring or complex installation work. If you want to install an Ecobee or any other type of thermostat, you can simply YouTube the installation, which provides step-by-step instructions on how to unwire, label, and rewire to the new thermostat. For my installation, I was under the impression that additional wiring might be needed, but it turned out to be a straightforward swap of the old thermostat with a new Ecobee unit, a process that took only about 15 minutes. Despite that, I was still charged the full amount. The Ecobee Premium thermostat itself costs around $250, meaning they charged nearly $500 just for labor, regardless of how simple or quick the installation is. To make matters worse, the installation only comes with a 30-day warranty, which hardly justifies such a high price. I tried to communicate and explain that this charge was unreasonably high and unfair, but they simply said, “It is what it is.” If you’re considering a thermostat installation, I strongly suggest hiring a professional through Thumbtack, where qualified experts can do the same job for under $150 with transparent pricing and good service. I expected fairness, honesty, and reasonable pricing from Glenmont, but unfortunately, that was not my experience."

"We bought a new construction and McCrea installed the HVAC. Home inspection identified the heat pump was not working in Oct. 2020. McCrea identified it was due to leaking refrigerants and promise fixed the issue. Our electric bill was extremely high the following two months and the heat pump was not cooling in Spring 2021. McCrea sent technician and again repaired the system. Bought their maintenance plan. We had 4+ repairs plus regular tune up in the past two years. Last week the heat pump stopped cooling again. We are out of labor warranty and charge us with $89 diagnostic cost after membership discount. It took three days for them to send someone to check while we suffering 90F in our house. They identified the compressor dead and need replacement. They charge $1900 for labor after membership discount. Most likely cause of the compressor failure is "suicide" with assistance. Low refrigerant at beginning and over change in later repairs likely contributed the short life."

He was professional from start to finish—on time, clean, and respectful—and never once tried to upsell me or push unnecessary work. He replaced the entire vent run and the airflow is now dramatically better. The work looks great and the dryer finally works the way it should. When I asked about other issues in the house, Will pointed out a few simple, free fixes that made a noticeable improvement to our heating. I even asked whether I needed a mini-split for some cold bedrooms, and instead of pushing a big install, he told me to try three free things first. That level of honesty and zero sales pressure is rare. I’d absolutely use him again and recommend him without hesitation."

They installed our current furnace. All the employees are great. James came to service our furnace today. We have never had a problem with any of the techs who have come to our house. "I would strongly recommend against using this company. Michael Bonsby sold me an HVAC system that repeatedly malfunctioned between its installation in August 2022 and removal in October 2025. Over those 3 years, Bonsby had ample opportunities to identify and correct the defect in the system, but it failed to do so. Nor did Bonsby ever offer to replace the system. In fall 2025, after years of frustration, I requested that Bonsby refund my purchase price for the defective system. Bonsby has refused and, in doing so, made arguments that are materially inaccurate as to the facts of the matter and applicable law. "
