"They do outstanding work and cabinet refinishing down to a very efficient process. They can refinish a very large kitchen while doing the quote over the phone and basically two trips to the house. And it's much cheaper than cabinet replacement. They're a great group and provide tremendous value with what they do."

"Mike and his crew arrived on time. They removed all the furniture from the deck and patio area, spray washed every part of exposed wood, including the house. The next day they pressure washed  the drive, pool area, and sidewalk.  The third day they sealed the decking. <br /> Our house looks new again! Will I use them again? You'd better believe it. The amount of jobs they can do is amazing. I can't decide what to have them do next. Maybe cut down some trees, fix the ceiling by our fireplace, remodel the bath room or paint the living room.  <br /> <br />"

"I didn't use her. She was delightful but I just decided to do straight paint instead of a faux finish. She was very creative and very skilled in what she did. She could be of help to anyone that needs her expertise. She listens and tries to work with what the customer is trying to achieve. She was very gracious when she made the sample boards that were beautiful. I had such a huge area that had to be treated so it was going to cost way more than what I was comfortable with. Her fees were not over the top but she was going to have to do stairwells because of the kitchen. She was really gracious when I told her I was going to do straight paint."

"I actually bought an antique piece of furniture  from his wife, a cottage door and they delivered it, the two of them. He could see that I needed some help, he offered and I have been working with him for about nine or ten months. He is prompt, he is an honest man, I would highly recommend him because I feel comfortable with him and he had great experience."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Knoxville, TN

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
