"Solar screens came out and gave a very reasonable price and custom measured each window. Once our shades were in, they came back and installed them very quickly. Now our great room is much cooler. I would definitely recommend them."

"Jim responded promptly to my order placed on Angie's List for the Remote Computer Tune Up & Repair Deal.  He cleaned up the computer remotely, which was running very slowly, and required frequent re-boots.  Computer is running much faster now.  Great service.  Would highly recommend.

"Trying to schedule service with this provider was an exercise in frustration.  The instructions were to schedule through the Angie's List email.  I contacted the provider with possible dates in May.  The provider responded the dates were taken and offered different dates in June.  I chose one of the new dates offered by the provider, but then the provider emailed that those dates were taken.  This back and forth happened a couple of more times.  Frustrated, I asked them to call me to schedule service.  They called, and I scheduled service for July, or so I thought. The day arrived that I thought the provider was coming, but no one showed up.  I called the office.  They had me down for the date in August, which was not accurate since the date in August was a Sunday and they do not work on Sundays.  So, by this time there were only dates left in August, and I needed the work done before the school year started.  They finally arrived in August.
The serviceman was very friendly and tried to be helpful.  He wasn't sure if he could install the kitchen faucet, but it turned out the package that I purchased had all of the correct parts he needed.  He worked on the hallway and bedroom doors.  I had also wanted him to install a shelf in the master bedroom, but it turns out that I did not have screws that were long enough for the braces.  So, he could not do that project.  Finally, he sanded down the front step so that I could close my storm door in the front of the house.  He was so quick that he finished before the time was up.  I didn't have anything else for him to do.
I did like the work, though I was disappointed I did not have the correct screws for the shelf.  I would not choose this provider again because of the difficulty, delays, and miscommunication with scheduling.

"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"This was Richards second visit to our home to help with repairs. He arrived on time and helped my husband remove the entire side of outside garage wall and replace all the boards. He also caulked entire area. My neighbor has also used his services on several occaissions. Thanks for doing such a good job."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Lake Jackson, TX

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
