"I had many HVAC companies come to quote system replacement of both systems. Brands included Trane, American Standard and Carrier. Some companies only wanted to focus on specific units, while others (like Airco) were willing to talk through all the models and price points. Airco (Kristin) talked through Trane and Carrier units and highlights of each and the value at each level. I liked that the quote was very specific in the scope of work and what would be replaced as compared to many other companies that verbally touched on many areas, but did not specifically commit to anything other than a HVAC model to be installed. While the reviews here were god overall, I asked for references, as well. The two different people I called were very complementary of their installations and had overall good/great experience with Airco. One other company that I liked did not give me references after requested. I liked Airco, but actually had better pricing from a competitor. When I discussed further, they matched the price and I decided to move forward with Airco. Airco was able to schedule the installations within days. While another company felt they would replace both units in one day, Airco committed to one unit per day. Given access to the attic and some ductwork changes, one day would have been too difficult and would have encouraged shortcuts. For the installation, they laid down tarp from the front door, up stairs and to attic entrance. The three-person team worked well together. They were very quick about demolition and were very detail-oriented for the installation. One of the techs worked on the outside unit while the other two worked in the attic. They installed the new units XR17/XV80 very carefully. The built all new plenums with dampers. If any future adjustments are needed, this will be handy. They did a great job with sealing and insulation of the plenums. Both units were installed with a 4" media filter. They provide a MERV 8 filter. While I would have liked the higher end filtration systems, I couldn't justify the cost. I subsequently purchased/installed MERV 11 filters (Kristin recommended against the MERV 13). The MERV 8 filters may have been good enough, but with allergies, I wanted to go with a level I know resolved problems we had in the past. I also had surge suppressors installed on the units. For the cost, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to re-buy anything due to any events in or out of my control. The installs also included gas line drip legs and new drain pans with overflow alarms/protection. They installed all new disconnects with breakers outside, as well. I am very pleased with the installations. As a note, no other company I talked to had discussed that they would pull a permit. This was another reason why I purchased the systems from Airco. After the installation, the city inspector came through as part of the permit inspection/completion. The inspector looked at everything and specifically called out a few things he liked with the installation. Overall, the units seem to run well and with the vfd blower, the house temperature no longer swings as much. The thermostats are nice (Trane XL824), and also have internet connectivity, which while handy, isn't used by us that much. Once we set up the schedules, there isn't much else to do. Airco also registered all the units for me, ensuring that we have the full warranty (I hadn't realized that without registration, many companies reduce the warranty). I was very happy working with Kristin. The installers were great and the systems work well. The price was competitive and I will do business with them again (also bought service contract)."

"They did a good job, but charged $195 for a $60 dollar part, plus the $70 trip fee. They did provide the 10% Angie's list discount. Total cost $256 to replace the part. Professional people and he did wash both units to remove grass build up which was very nice. Very high price."

"Rescue Air did a great job installing my new A/C system yesterday. They arrived with a crew of 5 guys who were well-prepared, energetic, and ready to get the job done. They were extremely thorough. I have two A/C systems in my house. Although they were only replacing one, they performed minor enhancements on the other to extend its life and performance. I paid good money for my new system, but I am firm believer in "you get what you paid for" and I feel that I received great value for my money."

"David was the technician. He was excellent. He has serviced my unit before. He discovered that there was a lose power connection. He corrected the problem and then did an inspection of the rest of the system and found a hole which he repaired with silver tape. Since the filter was dirty and I had a new one, he replaced it. Lastly he rinsed off the fans for the external unit. He was extremely thorough especially after discovering it wad a lose power connection. The unit was installed by the company and has been maintained every 6 months by them."

"Came in looked at the system, said we needed to replace a part and when I wasn't interested in doing that he closed everything up and left. In the past the service providers we have used have taken readings, provided us with the diagnostics, cleaned the system and the coils. This was a huge waste of money."

"John was a true professional. On my commercial property he diagnosed the problem and replacement and then worked to suggest the best solutions to reinstall properly with the current roofing system. Something we hadn't even thought about."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Lake Dallas, TX

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
