"Solar screens came out and gave a very reasonable price and custom measured each window. Once our shades were in, they came back and installed them very quickly. Now our great room is much cooler. I would definitely recommend them."

"Jim responded promptly to my order placed on Angie's List for the Remote Computer Tune Up & Repair Deal.  He cleaned up the computer remotely, which was running very slowly, and required frequent re-boots.  Computer is running much faster now.  Great service.  Would highly recommend.

"The owner of the business answered the telephone each time I called, and he appeared on-site on two (2) occasions, for the initial inspection and the final repair. He was extremely professional and respectful, and his (and his workers) skill level was very high. He knew exactly how to repair the damage caused by a prior, less competent, service company, and he explained what he was doing each step of the way. In addition to the repair, he made sure to inspect the entire venting system and made minor upgrades, at no expense, to insure that the vent would be safe in the future. It is important to note, that Aleman Home Services was referred to me by another service provider to fix their mistake. In other words, this is the company the other companies call when they mess something up. Upon finishing the work the company cleaned the entire work site and provided me with a detailed receipt. After speaking with the owner I was pleased to learn they do a wide variety of general handyman work, and I intend to use them in the future. You should too."

"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"This was Richards second visit to our home to help with repairs. He arrived on time and helped my husband remove the entire side of outside garage wall and replace all the boards. He also caulked entire area. My neighbor has also used his services on several occaissions. Thanks for doing such a good job."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Lake Jackson, TX

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
