"Home Advisor put me in touch with Glenn midday Sunday. I explained my situation, that I was calling on behalf of my elderly parents and that I live in Philadelphia, PA and that they live there in Charlotte,NC . I went on to tell him that we had been calling Piedmont Gas for over 6 months to get their furnace repaired and that after waiting that long we were told that the furnace insert that they sold them some years earlier was obsolete and therefore parts were no longer available (Martin Gas Products). Glenn explained that in 24 years of repairing Martin's he never found one that he could not repair. He explained that there would be a Sunday charge but that it would be credited to the final bill if I decided to let him repair or replace the unit in an extreme circumstance if he were unable to repair the gas furnace. I was more than happy to supply him with my credit card number. He said "no need let me get right over so we can get your parents some heat tonight", folks I don't know about you all but that just doesn't happen much anymore. 30 minutes later he arrived at my parents home and 15 minutes later he got the furnace working, albeit that it will require a new valve as the one in it is on its last days. He called me to let me know that he had gone ahead and ordered the new one from the supply house and that he would return later in the week to replace it. Remember obsolete unrepairable, right. Glenn demonstrated a professionalism with a superb customer service and knowledge that few I have come across do. All this was made possible by the service from the people at Home Advisor and a commercial on how a guy in my situation helps his parents from a far. Earlier this evening I received a call from my father telling me that their house was warm and that they would finally be able to get a good night's sleep, and that he appreciated me and that above all he wanted me to know how much he loves me. Thank you Glenn and thank you Home Advisor."

"I have found my Plumber for my house in Roger. I hired him to install a kitchen faucet and toilet for me. He gave me a flat rate (reasonable too) for both jobs. While installing the new toilet he discovered that our old toilet was not installed correctly. He fixed some things to overcome the old toilet issue (no additional charge). Then i asked him to look into why our water pressure was not good and he figured out why. While repairing that issue, he noticed we had a pretty significant leak in one of our pipes leading to the outside. He fixed those at a reasonable rate as well. He is a personable plumber without the high overhead that comes with the bigger companies. I'm glad i came across Roger! I highly recommend Roger for your plumbing needs."

"This company was contacted through HomeServe.  I have coverage on my natural gas heating system wiith HomeServe through Piedmont Natural Gas Co.  HomeServe contacted Miller Services after business hours and requested a technician be sent to my home to restore heat.  Within an hour Alan Brown was outside of my house in the cold and snowy weather investigating the problem.  He determined the cause of the problem and had it fixed in a short period of time.
Alan was very professional and personable. He certainly left a positive impression of the company that he represents.  The evidence from our conversation that he is a Christian increased the level of trust and respect that I had for him.  If I need HVAC repairs in the future, I will request that HomeServe contact Miller Services and hope that Alan will be the technician that they send.

"The work quality was great. However, the cost seems excessive. I have a general idea of the material cost, and amount of labor to replace a water heater. In the end, I have hot water again, but feel taken advantage of in a somewhat desperate situation."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Lexington, NC

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
