"Peter arrived at least 15 minutes early and was waiting in his truck when we noticed him.  We had a 5-foot section of concrete that was raised above the surrounding concrete, causing me to trip on it and almost fall.  He looked it over and thought that a root from the tree in the front yard was probably causing the issue.  He told me he could break up the concrete and remove it and then pour new concrete, or he could try getting the concrete out in one piece but it might break, anyway.  Considering the weather, we went with the latter option, and I'm glad we did.  An hour later, the root was removed, the section of concrete put back in place and the tripping hazard removed.  While not the ideal fix, it was perfect for this time of year and a worry removed at the Christmas season before guests arrive.  I appreciated the manner in which Peter discussed the options.  He was very professional and had a great personality and didn't leave me with that uneasy feeling you sometimes get when you have someone you don't know working at your house.  I have a list of things I'd like them to come back and do after the holidays.

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."
