Small jobs welcome

"Artisan Restoration is fantastic and does high quality work! Aaron and his team are very professional, kind, and efficient. They restored 4 very detailed wooden chairs for our dining table and even color matched them to one that had been previously re-stained. They picked up the chairs and delivered them upon completion of the project. Thank you so much for this beautiful work!"

"Floyd of Woodchuck Woodworking of Atlanta was a pleasure to deal with. He always returned calls quickly, and is clearly an expert craftsman. The chair was fully repaired over a weekend, and appears as if no harm had ever befallen it. I highly recommend Woodchuck Woodworking of Atlanta for any custom furniture or repair."

"I inherited my great grandmother's dining room table and it had gotten broken in a move a couple of decades back.  I finally decided it was time to fix it and put it in use.   William's Furniture Repair sent me an initial basic quote over email (via sending photos of my dining set).  At that time, I agreed to move forward.  They picked up the dining table set and took the time to explain a little about the set to me as well as provide more specific options for its repair/refinish.   I provided a down-payment on the project and then the table was moved to their workshop.  Later, I was called to the workshop to choose the color of the stain as well as drop off the material for the seat covers.  A short time after this, the table was dropped back off to my house. <br /> The table turned out beautifully.  It was amazing to have the table and chair not only be functional again, but to look amazing.  They did an excellent job so I also got a quote for my breakfast table.  This project will move forward within the year.   <br /> <br />"

"<p>Everything went great from the visit to do the estimate to the installation of the cabinet doors. Terry came out to talk with us and provide an estimate. He took his time and answered every question we had; in fact, he ended up talking with us for well over an hour. There was no high pressure sales pitch - just a man talking about his business, his life, and his retirement plans. </p> <p>We decided to go ahead and have the cabinets done and Terry took the doors with him to his shop to be stripped, stained, and sealed. Our kitchen cabinets - over 20 years old; were white, will yellowing stains from grease and smoke (despite my best efforts to keep them pristine); the thermofoil was peeling off some of the doors and there were a couple that had other issues. I had decided I wanted a deep mahogany cherry look - I wanted to get as far away from white as I could. Additionally, our kitchen is a part of an open plan (family room and kitchen nook all one big room). The tables / entertainment center in family room is a deep mahogany cherry color and Terry took one of the shelves to match the stain for the kitchen cabinets.</p> <p>Base Cabinet Prep<br /> <br />Terry came back and and quot;prepped the base cabinetsand quot; - taping and sealing the bases. It took him less than 3 hours.<br /> <br /><br /> <br />Installation<br /> <br />Todd (he ROCKS; very nice and courteous) and the Team (again, very nice) came the next day to paint the bases, install our stained doors and new handles. They were there almost all day. They took their time and sanded, painted, wiped, and sealed our cabinets. They installed the new handles; they corrected some and quot;leaning cabinetsand quot;, they cleaned up; they left. They were fantastic. Our new kitchen is very nice. We have stainless appliances, and decided, after seeing how nice the refinishing came out, to purchase new granite countertops. </p> <p>My husband notice a few minor issues that he wanted corrected. I contacted Terry, he responded right away and sent Todd out within a week. Todd came back, (40 minutes early for appointment), addressed issues and was gone within an hour and a half.</p> <p>Overall Impression<br /> <br />Fantastic service, passion for their work (Todd admired the kitchen when they finished as much as I did), and hard-working. These guys are not miracle workers; the cabinets are not new and they are not expensive and they don't look new and expensive. However, they are pretty, neat, and a great deal more that what I ever expected. I am so happy we found them on Angie's List. I have recommended them to two of my friends already and would recommend them to anyone else considering an economical approach to what can be a very expensive fix.</p> <p>Regrets<br /> <br />Todd and the Team got caught in the awful Snowmegeddon leaving our home. They left at 4 p; they didn't get home until 6 a the next morning. I felt so bad when I learned of their plight; they worked so hard that day, only to spend the night in a van.</p> <p>Thank you Terry, Todd, and Extended Team!</p> <br />"

"I can't remember the price but it wasn't much. It was a good price. They were very friendly and very informative. They came when they were supposed to. They picked it up when they were supposed to. And they delivered it when they were supposed to. It was an overall great experience. They came all the way from Gainesville, came on time and stayed in touch."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Lilburn, GA

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
