"Bob has done numerous projects for our old house over the years mainly carpentry, and most recently to replace cedar siding on a large area of the house. Bob does excellent carpentry and finish work and is an extremely hard worker. He has also done wood gutter repair, cleaning and sealing, hung exterior doors and installed exterior wood railings for us. The various projects have involved a significant amount of high exterior painting. He has a wide range of skills and excellent problem-solving ability. Because of this history, we have a lot of trust that Bob will do an excellent job at whatever project he accepts. "

"The quality of the work was excellent. They cleaned up the work area every day after they worked and we are very pleased with the deck post replacement and trim board wrapping of the posts. Highly recommend and would employ them again if needed."

"They did a great job, in spite of snow & ice mounds encroaching, & replaced our run down back stairs with an excellent & safer new set of stairs. Communication was excellent & we definitely recommend them. We’ve already received compliments from neighbors."

"Bruno and his team did an absolutely fantastic job at my new house. Started off just hiring him to do the interior painting, but ended up having him and his team do some tiling/kitchen backsplash, fireplace remodeling, front door and a laundry renovation. Him and his guys were extremely careful and efficient with their work. Cowboy General Services can truly do it all. I will definitely be hiring Bruno and his team again for my next home project!"

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Lincoln, MA

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
