"THE MAN WHO CAME OUT TO REPLACE OUR GARAGE DOOR OPENER WAS QUICK, KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING, AND SURPRISINGLY, COMPLETED HIS WORK MUCH SOONER THAN WHAT WE HAD EXPECTED."

"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

\nUpgrading Your Door\n\nYour garage door is often one of the most noticeable and most important factors in the curb appeal of your house. Upgrading your garage door is a great, affordable way to maximize curb appeal if you are looking to sell your home.\nGarage Door Types\n\nThe type of garage door, extra equipment required and labor required all have an impact on the price of your new door.\nMaterials to Choose From\n\nThe first thing you should consider when selecting a material for your garage door is its longevity. Although a certain construction material can raise the price of a garage door, it may last far longer than a door made with less expensive material. Look for a door that will last at least five to 10 years.\nEach door material is offered in four different grades. Single-layer doors are the most affordable, but they are also most prone to dents and breaks. At the other end of the spectrum are costly heavy doors with thick insulation. These doors are expensive upfront, but they can withstand a lot more wear and tear than their cheaper counterparts.\nAvailable materials are as follows:\n\n Custom Wood — This is a solid wood garage door that comes in either cedar, hemlock or mahogany. These cost more than any other type of door (both for installation and ongoing maintenance), but they are durable and will add significant natural beauty to your home's exterior.\n Wood Composite –This is made primarily from recycled materials, making it an eco-friendly option. It will need to be painted, which allows for personalization. It's also fairly inexpensive.\n Vinyl — Vinyl garage doors are increasing in popularity because they look nicer than steel. They resist denting as well, which means less maintenance in many cases.\n Steel — Steel is the least expensive and most commonly used material for garage doors. If you buy a steel door, insulation may be an important consideration.\n\nAn Opener to Match Your New Door\n\nBased on the size and weight of your new garage door, you may want to think about getting the rest of the system components checked out. A new garage door opener and some new springs are a great compliment to your great new door, allowing you to enjoy not only the appearance of the door, but also a smoother, less noisy, and longer lasting system.\n\n
