"Jacob thoroughly looked over everything; water lines, gas line, igniter, gas valve, connections, etc.. He took the time to make sure everything was working properly and even educated me on a few things I didn't know."

"This was a sales pitch, but that was not what I was expecting AT ALL. I was contacted by the company and asked if I wanted to have my water tested, so that is what I thought I was having done.  I became slightly suspicious when the day before the "test," a representative from the company called and said my husband needed to be present during the demonstration.  Demonstration?  What demonstration? <br /> Well, it was a demonstration.  Over three hours (YES -- if only I had billed for those hours, I'm sure it could have gone more quickly!) of my Saturday time was completely wasted. <br /> The water-softening system (they don't call it a water softener, but that's basically what it is) probably is very good, but while I was considering doing my research and maybe even purchasing the system (even though they tricked me), I lost ALL interest when I learned I had to make the decision THAT DAY to get the special pricing and the "free" annual supply of laundry soap.  When the pressure is that high, there probably is something wrong. <br /> The sales representative (they call themselves something else, like water treatment engineers or some silliness) was quite well-trained and very personable.  Good enough that I considered looking into the system further until she started with that "you must buy today" part of the pitch.  At that point, I knew none of it was sincere.  Just a good old-fashioned bait and switch. <br />"

"I had 2 floods in basement because of a plug in the main city line every time they came out and unplugged it the water would stopped. I decided enough was enough so I came to Angie's list and this company came right out gave me a estimate and explained how it worked. I went with this company they were professional and clean up came back to cut the pipe down to level of ground in a month or so for dirt to settle. <br />"

"Great job......especially as it was a bit "tricky" as removal of the original shut off was very corroded as it was leaking.....and rusted due to it being old galvanized piping and connection length from the main to house was limited."

"The technician came by, checked out the problem, explained in detail what he would do and the cost.We set an appointment for the next day.  I had overlooked an appointment I had and called the technician, he said no problem, and we rescheduled for the day after.  He was there on t ime and did a very professional job.  He even gave me a senior discount of 10%.  Needless to say I will call Bland's if I ever need a plumber again."

"All they were interested in was selling new a furnace and air conditioner. ?They put in the wrong Freon.? They overcharged the unit and it leaked out all over. The system kept shutting down.? ?Another company came out and said everything was fine but it was because of the wrong Freon.? We had previously used them for 10 years. ?The technician that was good has retired. They read my review and refunded my money and apologized for everything."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Livingston, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
