"Tim & Steve moved a gas pipe and water line back about a foot so that they were hidden in an exterior wall, allowing us to re-frame our fireplace. They showed up around 10am, completed the job, and were gone by the time I arrived back home at 5pm. The value was fantastic, and I would HIGHLY recommend them to friends and family if the need arises."

"Our CPVC house piping had a lot of water hammer. After turning on the washing machine, I walked out for a moment, and then when I came back in water was dripping from the ceiling exhaust fan onto the washing machine. We have a two story house and they ran the hot water plumbing from the water heater in the garage through the laundry room ceiling. I removed the exhaust fan and could see water dripping from a tee way back beyond reach. The water hammer from the washer likely caused the fitting to start leaking. I turned the house water supply off and sent a message to Simpson plumbing through Angie's list. A lady from Simpson plumbing contacted me right away the next morning. She was courteous, but was having a hard time understanding what the problem was. Maybe I was giving too much information or something, but when the plumbers arrived later that afternoon they didn't understand what was going on. I ran through what happened again and showed them the wet spot on the ceiling. They had to cut an opening in the ceiling and we turned the water on and confirmed the leak. We moved my washing machine out of their way and they cut out the CPVC tee and replaced it with PEX. The piping was brittle so it took him a couple of attempts to get a straight cut which is why I called them to mess with it. After installing the PEX tee, we were leak free and at my request they provided a reference for the drywall repair. He also advised getting some water hammer arrestors installed on the supply lines to the washing machine to stop the water hammer, which I have since done."

"One of the men came, wore the blue booties so as not to track outside dirt, and opened the furnace, vacuumed the interior out, checked the filter, oiled any parts that needed it, and checked the furnace by turning it on to make sure everything was in good working order. He then made sure the entire area was cleaned up and took everything with him. I have used Mr. Nash's services since 1993 and have always been pleased with them. They are very professional, come when scheduled, never leave a mess, and make sure the furnace is in good working order. I will be calling in the next week or 2 to book this year's cleaning and servicing.

"Had a faucet in guest bathroom pop a leak in its base, of all things. So, I went to my "go to" plumbing company (Mack) and asked for help. Came and fixed it right away, which is what I've come to expect over the years and why I keep going back to Mack Plumbing..."

Small jobs welcome

"Sunday morning my outdoor pipe burst which was leaking into my basement. I couldn't get the water main turned off and I was desperate. I called another plumbing company who was going to charge me $500 just to come and look at the problem. After 1.5 hours of waiting for this other plumber I get a call saying they made a mistake and have no one to help me. I was in tears. Called Andrew. He was there in 10 min (on his day off) had it fixed in 45. And I saved almost $200 in costs. Fabulous man! Thank you Andrew!!!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Longview, WA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
