"I couldn t be happier with the end result of my grandparents 105 year old mahogany pedestal dining table! Thomas is awesome! He and Patrick picked up and delivered the table to our home in Folsom. It took them only about 2 weeks from start to finish. I highly recommend them for any refinishing work you may need."

"<p>I had an antique table whose finish was damaged and scratched during a recent move. Russ promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment to come to my home and view the table. He stated that he could likely fix the damage during the visit. After assessing the damage, he was able to re-do the finish on the table within about 30-40 minutes. The table looks great and I am very satisfied with the outcome. I would not hesitate to call Russ again for future work. </p> <p><br /> </p> <br />"

"I was very pleased with the results. You can't see any bit of the damage that had been done. <br /> The finish on our solid oak table top had been damaged by a caterer's chafing dish that blistered the finish. We looked at Angies List for referrals for refinishers and located De Sousa's. We sent photos to them and they gave us a quote from looking at the pictures. The quote was exactly what we were charged. <br /> The cost of pick-up and delivery seemed very steep ($95 each way), otherwise the price was in line with the other two I had checked on. <br />"

"The rear legs had fallen off my antique sewing table. It is a piece I found in a and quot;junqueand quot; shop in Jamestown, Rhode Island about 20 years ago. It was in sad shape so I refinished it and have enjoyed using it ever since. Recently when I opened a drawer the table fell over and I found it's rear legs had come off. <br /> I located Furniture Rescue on-line. They said they were very busy but would be glad to fix my table if it could be fixed. They also warned me that they were really busy and it might take awhile to get it back. <br /> I dropped it off at their shop on 5/23/13. They called and told me it was finished on 7/01/3. <br /> They did a fantastic job! The rear legs are now very sturdy and they also polished the table so it looks very beautiful! I know it will give me many more years of service and enjoyment. <br />"

"Gilbert Aguayo, with decades of experience behind him, specializes in reupholstering antique furniture. He is very familiar with furniture construction, and thinks through all steps to make sure things are done in proper order. His shop is full of interesting supplies and examples of his work and materials. I took my job to him, but he would gladly pick up the work and return it when finished. We talked over all steps and materials involved in my small job, and agreed on things before he started. He's a pleasure to work with, and he tells great stories!"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Loomis, CA

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
