"I have to post a review regarding TNT Furniture Refinishing. Mr David Teegarden, Owner of T-N-T refinished a Dining Table Top for me that I purchased second hand. It turned out BEAUTIFUL! Not only was it refinished perfectly…but very reasonably priced and turn around time was very quick. Can I give him 10 Stars? GREAT JOB! Thank You…TNT…🥳 Georgia Resch"

"Rusty did another terrific job for us. He refinished a sizable section of our kitchen cabinets; - the quality and finish were terrific. He also replaced the door hinges and drawer slides with soft close ones. He was very considerate of our schedule. Will call on him again next time we need refinishing or other furniture-related services."

"I have used T-n-T Refinishing for 2 projects in the past year and have been extremely pleased with the quality of work done, turnaround time and price. I had a bad experience with another refinishing company in the past and was hesitate to try another. When I took my table to T-n-T's place of business, I asked to see other work that they had done. David was very patient in showing and explaining projects that were in his shop and I decided to have him do my table. We were extremely pleased with the final product and, as a result, decided to have him refinish an antique piano also. We will not hesitate to take other projects to David and highly recommend to others. The cost for the table was $250 and the piano was $1700."

"David was recommended by the retailer where we purchased the two sofas a long time ago. He did an excellent job replacing the broken mechanism and we also had him replace the other 3 that were balky. He diligently disassembled each sofa and reassembled with new parts, they now function like new! Would definitely hire David again!"

"Lauer Furniture did a beautiful job refinishing several pieces of furniture , some of which had been in storage due to wear or damage.  The refinished pieces look like new!  An added plus is that Lauer is very accommodating and easy to work with. I highly recommend this company! <br />"

"After shopping for barrel chairs I found that to replace my 2 chairs in the same quality was extremely expensive. As I felt the bones of the chairs were in excellent shape but the upholstery was old and tattered, I decided to find out how much reupholstering would cost. I called Clifton Upholstery and they responded immediately. After talking to Bob on the phone, he came to my home and presented material samples in the color choices I had asked for. The materials he presented were very high quality. I also decided to have him give me estimates on 4 cafe chairs and an office arm chair. After accepting his pricing on all, Clifton Upholstery came and picked up the chairs and the work was done and returned in a comfortable time frame (about 3 weeks). The quality of work exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with the results. If you have quality furniture that can be refurbished, it can be very cost effective and smart to do so. Call Bob at Clifton Upholstery. They are professional and provide quality work and I highly recommend them."

"Called for an appointment and they were very helpful and responsive. The person sent to my house was punctual and professional. The piano was so out of tune that it had to be tuned twice and they didnt charge more than they initially said they would. Note: I am writing this after the fact so dont remember the exact cost but it was reasonable and I will use them again."

"Dovetail Restoration does wonderful work bringing antique furniture back to life. They are craftsmen, experts in restoring furniture to it's original color and repairing or replacing missing pieces. Their love for the history of the pieces they work on is evident in their painstaking attention to details, but they also understand that to be beautiful and useful furniture must function. Know nothing? They will guide you. Antiques may have more value to some if they are never repaired, but if you want to use and love your great-grandfather's dining table for years to come, take it to Dovetail Restoration."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Manchester, MD

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
