"Target Radon was very responsive and they worked in increments. They replaced the motor first. When that was not enough the replaced the stack. They continued working until the problem was solved."

"Mrs. Bob arrived on-time, and after introducing herself and explaining the home inspection process began a full inspection. And by full, I mean she was extremely thorough in both the exterior and interior. Throughout the whole process she explained everything she was looking at and why, and answered my many questions happily and completely. <br />  We had originally ordered a radon inspection, but upon finding that the home had a functioning radon system already installed she removed the radon inspection from our bill. We appreciated this greatly. <br /> After the inspection was complete, Mrs. Bob prepared the home inspection report and went through it line by line, providing several pamphlets of additional information for our education. When I asked her about the severity of certain issues she had uncovered, she had no problem identifying which were minor, which were more serious safety issues, and provided estimated costs to remedy certain issues. She then provided a physical copy of the report to us and our realtor (at our instruction), and also provided a digital copy of our report within a couple of hours after concluding the inspection. <br /> Finally, on a Sunday two days after the inspection I emailed Mrs. Bob with a question. She answered (again, kindly and completely!) within a couple of hours. <br /> I highly recommend Inspections by Bob, LLC for their professionalism, patience with the questions of first-time home buyers, fair pricing, and availability both during and after the inspection. <br />"

"Excellent. GMD installed a system that was integrated into existing french drain, updated an existing sump pump, installed a duct fan, and sealed the entire system. They performed a smoke test to ensure air flow. Team took pains to leave behind a clean work area, were friendly, and willing to ask any and all questions. Radon following their test showed a significant drop in detected radon. Would highly recommend them to anyone requiring radon mitigation."

"I was fortunate to get an appointment with Robert the day after we spoke. I was looking for someone who is very good and has a sentrilock key card. He's the answer to my prayers. He sent me samples of home inspection report and pictures few minutes after we spoke. They were pretty impressive. My husband came on time at the house. He was already at the house and have started doing some work. He probably came 10-15 mins ahead of us. His experience speaks for the quality of his work. He is very thorough. He explained to us every single detail. He also gave us tips/recommendations and things that we should keep in mind. He puts red dots on the things that he noticed so it would be easy to spot and remember. He also put those cards and instructions for the valves. That's a huge help. It took him 3 hours to complete the inspection. He sent the reports in the evening the same day of the inspection. It was very detailed and has all the things he noticed/took note of. My husband and I were very happy with his work and how the inspection turned out. We also did the radon test btw."

"I contacted Mitchell Home Inspections due to a positive referral from a friend. The inspector (Cliff) arrived early and was very knowledgeable and polite. He did a really thorough inspection and the report was well written with many pictures, notes, and findings. One of the most important things he did was to inform me that he observed radon mitigation systems on the surrounding homes. Based on this, I requested that he perform the radon test and we discovered that our home had a very high radon level. If he did not mention that, my family would be putting ourselves at risk for lung cancer (due to radon) without even knowing it. Now we have the mitigation system in place so we can sleep well and safe. THANK YOU CLIFF!!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Manchester, MD

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
