"Scott made a beautiful head board for me out of an old door that I found - whenever anyone sees it they are amazed out how beautiful the piece is and how unique. Scott also made floating shelves for us. He listen to what you want and makes it happen."

"Robbie did a great job.  Pieces I thought were totally destroyed were restored.  Most had signs of being under water for weeks, but he put them back together and in some cases made some very delicate pieces to replaces parts that couldn't be found in the mucky mess.   <br /> He also refinished a side table I bought at auction and did a beautiful job.  I would recommend him to anyone needing restoration services. <br />"

"We are so glad to have met him and have him as a resource! We have antique family furniture that has been in our family for generations and has tremendous sentimental value.  Recently one of the legs of our empire sofa broke - it did not look like it could be fixed because of its location in a curve. Also, we had recently discovered that two back chair legs were broken on my elderly mother-in-law's very old carved armchair in her apartment. I called Shad Weathersby's company, and his office made an appointment for him to come to our home within 10 days. He was there on the day and at the time promised and took the chair back to his shop, making an appointment to come back with it in 10 days and repair the couch at our home. When he returned with the chair on the day promised, the repair was phenomenal!. These back legs were broken with one jagged piece completely off. You cannot tell where the repair was made - it was perfect! You can sit in the chair without a problem. His repair on our sofa was equally impressive. You can't detect it - and the sofa will once again be in its place of honor! Shad gave us a reasonable estimate for repairs, and the cost was exactly what he quoted. High quality work at a very reasonable price! I truly did not think these pieces could be fixed  - he is remarkable, and you can count on him to get the repairs done in a timely manner. I sent several vintage chairs back with him to have the backs repaired and have them refinished. Anytime we need any work done on our furniture in the future, we are calling him! <br />"

"The guy at Furniture Shop did an incredible job on the spinning wheel. I showed him the pictures I had of it before it was smashed up. He is very nice, his price was incredibly reasonable for the work he did. It is beautifully refinished. He did it in a timely manner, he's just a great guy. He told us up front what it was going to cost. You have to make an appointment because he's not there all the time."

"Bayou Interiors & Fabrics Inc. I had three pieces done, I didn't go real cheap on the fabric either.  I have never had anything reupholstered before.  But I had furniture that wasn't very old, it was a Flexfield sofa with a chair and an ottoman.  So it had good bones to it and I didn't want to just replace it because it had, like I said, good bones to it.  So I wanted to get it reupholstered in better quality fabric than something you could just get in a store and when I went there I was really overwhelmed because of all the fabric books and I had never gone through this process before.  But there was a woman there Peggy, she walked me through step by step which helped me narrow down the colors and then the patterns and then the fabric types.  She really kind of held my hand through the entire process.  And then when she found out that my husband was in the military she just said I will give you military discount on your fabric.  And it didn't take, the longest part was just getting the fabric in, because you know a lot of it they just don't have it in stock, they have to go order it.  It was very fair, I didn't mind waiting for it.  As soon as it came in everything moved so fast.  So we went and got the furniture off one weekend, a couple weeks later they said it's ready we can deliver it for you and even the guys that came out and delivered it were great.  Peggy sat and talked and try to figure out how much wear and tear the furniture is going to get and as soon as she found out that I had a cat, she said okay, she pulled out this one fabric, took a really sharp, it was almost like a hook that you would put in the wall to hang something on, the really sharp part that you would put in the wall, and she just tried to scratch the heck out of this fabric and nothing happened to it.  So she worked with my lifestyle and my budget and everything.  And then when the furniture was delivered I noticed that the pillows that I had ordered to go with the couch, the throw pillows, they were done in the incorrect fabric.  And I called her up and I said look this isn't you know the end of the world, but I know we had paid for the fabric, for those pillows and she said oh my gosh, I'm not sure why that happened, but I'm going to fix it right away for you.  I will call you when the pillows are ready and so I got two free pillows out of the deal.  She said just keep the incorrect pillows that match the furniture.  So I got free pillows out of the deal.  And I'm really glad that you called because at that moment I promised her that I would put a review on Angie's list for her.  I am thrilled, it looks like brand new furniture.  And the quality is really good.  It's because I put the more expensive higher quality fabric, the furniture had really good bones to it, it's higher quality than I would ever go to a furniture store and buy.  So it's something that is going to last for a long time.  It was great."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Mandeville, LA

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
