"In Aug./Sep. 2019, Rogers Masonry did a tear-down of our decrepit stuccoed chimney, followed by a beautiful brick re-build. The project posed some every unique challenges that Roger handled with a high level of professionalism and diligence. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in all chimney-related matters and provided almost-daily progress reports to document the work his crew was performing. His communication was exemplary, and he was responsive to our questions/concerns, all of which he promptly addressed. We were especially appreciative of the many pictures of the ongoing work that Roger provided throughout the project. We have already had the opportunity to make a referral for Roger and hope to work with him on another chimney project in 2020."

"Trilight Stone completed a full stone renovation to our home. The work was complex, as there was a new portico and detail around existing windows. They worked within existing brick to create a beautiful finished facade. Len, the owner, is highly knowledgeable, honest, timely and a delight to work beside. We interviewed 5 masons before hiring Trilight and we are pleased that we chose Len. His bid was competitive and the results are tremendous. Our home is the "talk of the block" and turned out exactly as we envisioned. Thank you Len and Trilight Stone!"

"After being subject to high pressure scare tactics and a $9000 bid for a new liner from another chimney repair company, I hired Copperfield. $315 for a simple cleaning and they clarified that the liner business is a scam, my chimney is too small to accept one, and it's fine the way it is."

"My installation experience with Craftsman went extremely well. The crew came right on time as promised. They worked quickly and efficiently for three days. The head of the crew said they could have finished in two days but he doesn't like to rush at the end because that's when people take shortcuts and don't do as good a job cleaning up. Unusually conscientious approach. The products seem exactly as described. All of the details we'd discussed were included, like colors, finishes, and using primed wood trim pieces that can be painted once the weather is warmer. The crew cleaned up each day and did a thorough cleanup at the end. Haven't had much chance to use the windows yet, but they open and close and look good inside and out. These were old window openings so lines weren't all straight and squared perfectly at first, but they did a good job of creating clean lines and squared corners. The custom curve on one window in front looks very attractive inside and out and this feature took skillful measuring and installation. The company was more than reasonable about the final payment. It turned out the install happened just before I left town for a month and I asked if I could postpone the final payment until I had a chance to really check things out more thoroughly. They were very understanding and flexible and I really appreciated that. They also sent a note saying that they stand behind their work and to let them know if there are any issues that come up later. The only reason I gave the company a B was that the contract was signed Oct. 1 and the install date came up very suddenly in January. My previous experience with windows and doors was that the job was performed within not more than 6 to 8 weeks after the contract was signed. We didn't really talk about the timing prior to signing the contract and in hindsight maybe I should have asked. Once the contract was signed I was told the approximate install date would be mid. December. That was disappointing. But the products didn't come until January--even worse. This may have been the fault of the supplier, but any delay should be discussed with customers as early as possible and approximate revised install dates should be negotiated at that time. When this didn't happen as expected, it made me think the company might be unreliable and I began to mistrust my judgment in signing with them. As it turned out they did high-quality work and my worries proved unfounded. I would definitely hire them again, but ask more questions about timing next time."

"The team at United Wall has done another great job for us. This job was even more complicated than our last one because it was for our entire staircase wall, which is both high, curved near the top, and also on stairs. Also, this was probably 15-20 ft long of cracked wall and 7 ft high of cracks. This is excluding the big crack on the other side of the stairs that was also in this project. Same with part of our ceiling. They showed up exactly on time, completed the job on time, and did an incredible job protecting our stairs, preventing dust to other areas, and then cleaning up. They also did a great job protecting the entrance cabinets, walls, and windows. We used them about a year ago and were excited to hire them again for this project. The quality of that work has held up under tremendous load that we’ve put on some of those areas from another construction project that requires bracing that area of the house inside and out. Call them and feel free to call elsewhere, but hire this team if you want quality work done right. I am cross-posting this on the BBB and Google Reviews too."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Maple Plain, MN

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
