"This is the second time I hired Tim to paint interior walls he is such a wonderful man, he came with his helper Tim (yes both are Tim’s) he also is a super nice and friendly guy. I was so happy that Tim was able to come a couple of days later and paint living room, dining and hallway their workmanship is second to none excellent, he goes out his way and even painted door trim and touched up a few other spots that were not part of the job, if need a top quality job done you need to call Tim Bast painting you will not regretted."

"I own a dining set consisting of five chairs, a table and a credenza. I purchased the set from a co-worker who got it from her parents years back when they downsized. I am guessing the set is at least fifty years old, but is a quality set originally made by R-Way Furniture based in Sheboygan Wisconsin. The table and credenza still look very good but the chairs got to looking pretty bad and got "rickety" and worn over time. I was thinking of replacing the entire set, but it is hard to find something of like quality today. After looking into my options, I decided to restore the chairs. The work Greg's did was outstanding. The chairs look like new and are solid again. When reupholstered, new padding was put in making them really comfortable in addtion to being "full" looking again. Greg's restained them to match the other pieces very well. Realize opting to restore old pieces like this will require time consuming effort and as a result is pretty expensive. Greg's quote was nearly half of another one I received and I could not imagine a better result. Going this route was way better than trying to replace these pieces with something brand new or replacing the entire set with some of the crap that is out there today. I have no regrets at all for going this route. Greg's has moved from State Street to 3939 West McKinley Ave, 53208. I highly recommend considering them if you have a project in mind."

"The paint crew of 3 men arrived on time, worked hard all day, didn't slop paint on anything, and cleaned up after themselves as they went along. My husband had injured his knee, so they moved all the furniture, and helped me remove paintings from the walls. They were pleasant and professional. They worked 10 hours a day and finished the job (walls and ceilings, 2 coats of paint) in 2 days."

"Excellent customer service by all involved. This is the second time we have used Pro WoodCare to clean and repair our cedar roof. Their excellent work is saving us thousands of dollars over the long term, as our roof is in great shape and will likely stay that way for years to come."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Milwaukee, WI

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
