"Wendel's team worked extremely efficiently to complete my full perimeter interior french drain and sump pump installation after a previous contractor stopped showing up for the work. They were done in a day when the previous project was taking months."

"The job was fairly straightforward and I had already procured the sink and most of the additional supplies but the job required some replumbing of both the water supply and drain. The master plumber worked efficiently and professionally and the job was completed in a few hours. The cost was determined from a standard table in a notebook but does not take into account the complexity of the job or whether materials are supplied by owner. Since I supplied most of the materials (plumber supplied valves and pipe and drain fittings) the price seemed rather high for around 3 hours work. However, I've had no professional plumbing work done recently and thus have nothing to compare it to. The plumber was very pleasant and professional and the work of high quality. I have no other complaints."

"Jeff M. was the technician for the annual service for my two sump pumps in the the basement. He was very nice and completed the job in a timely fashion. The product itself that we have of a french drain system and 2 sump pump works and we have not had any water in the basement since getting it installed. I would recommend Busy Dogs product to anyone."

"Van came out the same day that I called on a holiday. After I showed him where the clean-outs for the drain lines were, he was able to quickly snake the line and remove a large clog of hair. He kept the work area clean as well."

"He just nailed it. Where another plumber (who was highly rated here on Angie's List) wasn't able to clear the drain, but was able to take my cash) wasn't able to do this, he was. I only wish I'd had some more work lined up to better use our time together. That said, 100% recommended them and they were great."

"Bath tub drain was cleared and demonstrated by flushing water to view where drain was cleared. Shower drain was not cleared by Eddie since he demonstrated that this was the way it drains. He pointed out that the drain screen was not screwed in but grouted on and does not want to remove and break the integrity of the structure."

"They arrived exactly on time. I had a narrow access way under the deck to the basement, but they were able to get the new one in and the old one out. I like that they used the 90 degree ball valve as a shut off versus the old valve style. The tank and all of the parts are very clean and it looks great. I also appreciate that he took the time to explain how each part works on the tank (filler tube, exhaust pipe, manual and automatic fire shut off, filter). It took them about 1 1/2 hours to complete in total. I also gave them a separate check for $104, as requested, payable to the City of Providence for them to file a permit). If you need to replace or remove your oil tank, I strongly recommend them."

"George and his team did an excellent job with the install. I received quotes that were much higher for the same project and similar systems. As busy as George was he always answered my questions leading up to the install and was there right when he said he would be. George even helped me plumb a water line to my refrigerator and didn't charge me for the material he used! I have already recommended Absolute Water Systems to a friend and will certainly be using them for any future projects."

"It was a very positive experience.  Dave responded to my inquiry within 2 minutes and came on a Sunday, within 4 hours of the phone call.  The situation was very much under control the whole time, as Dave brought with him everything that the project required, including a replacement pump.  He was professional and efficient, and the work space was clean after the installation was complete.  I would recommend Dave and will likely call on him again for future projects of this type.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Minot, MA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
