"So you save your money, decide to update your bathrooms and then you call contractors.  Some don't answer the phone.  Others are rude.  You have a few over to bid the work and hopefully, you get a written estimate within a few days.  Some contractors didn't take notes or measurements or put anything in writing.  Not Mike.   <em><strong>First, great impression.  </strong></em> <br /> <br /> ML Restorations promptly called me back and met me at the house a few days later.  He was professional, polite and respectful of my home.  He took detailed notes about my request and full measurements of the floor, walls, shower stale etc.   <em><strong>Second, great impression</strong></em>. A few days later he emailed an itemized, detailed bid including projected timeline for each step of the project..  I got busy with work and didn't respond for a few days.  He kindly called me, followed up with the bid, asked if I had questions.   <em><strong>Third, great impression. </strong></em> I then decided, I'm going to use this guy.   <br /> <br /> He connected me with a wholesale contractor parts store, saved me a ton of money on fixtures and plumbing supplies.  He started the project on-time, on the day we agreed. He began with lying paper on the floor from the front door to bathrooms and put cloth over furniture to minimize the the impact of dust.  I immediately felt like he cared about my house.   <strong>Forth, great impression.</strong> <br /> <br /> The project continues as you would hope with minimal bumps.  A few minor issues with cabinets or tile supplier, but Mike was the first to tell me and was there to advocate for me.  This is why I could not of done this without a general contractor like Mike.  He was there to tell me in person, text or voicemail.  And most importantly, he had a solution for any "problem".   <br /> <br /> Three weeks later, I have the bathrooms I wanted for the agreed upon price.  The bathrooms are beautiful and I couldn't be happier.   <br /> <br /> Thanks Mike ! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Brady, who is now the owner of Jack's Custom Upholstery, is a true craftsman. He takes great pride in his work, prices it fairly and completes it expeditiously. He had numerous fabrics that one could select from, and encouraged us to bring samples home to see how they fit our decor. Brady has worked as an upholsterer for about forty years and it is evident that he still enjoys what he does. I recommend him highly and unequivocally. There is no aspect of the job he did for us that could have been done better."

"Crowder came out and gave us an estimated quote. They had to reschedule a few times due to weather. <br /> The first day they came out all prep work was done. Then when the weather cooperated they came in to finish. <br /> They were very proffessional, all work was cleaned up after and the painting job was excellent. <br /> I was most impressed with the care they took painting around the winter dead vines that wrapped around the porch. <br /> They did this causing no damage and that took some time effort and care. <br /> All around a very good experience and we will definitely call them again."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Monument, CO

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
